The Kazon

Humanoid race native to the Delta Quadrant. First contact with the Kazon came in 2371 when the U.S.S. Voyager was thrown to the Delta Quadrant by the Caretaker. After traveling to the Ocampan homeworld to rescue two crewmembers a Voyager away team encountered the Kazon - Ogla. An alien called Neelix rescued Kes from the Kazon before they left. When Voyager traveled back to the Caretaker's array the Kazon - Ogla were there. Before the Caretaker died he asked Janeway to destroy the array so it wouldn't fall into the hands of the Kazon - Ogla. Before Janeway destroyed the array the Kazon - Ogla destroyed the Maquis vessel. The inhabitants beamed aboard Voyager before the explosion. Janeway, knowing that the Caretaker couldm't bring them home, destroyed the array. (Caretaker VOY) Next contact with the Kazon came in 2371 with the Kazon - Nistrim. While on a planet searching for vegetation for the Mess Hall Chakotay was attacked by the Kazon while searching for Seska. They managed to escape from the cave and return to Voyager. It was later discovered that a Voyager crew member had been selling replicator technology to the Nistrim. Then it was discovered that it was Seska. Seska was a Cardassian agent altered to look like a Bajoran in order to infiltrate the Maquis. Then Seska beamed over to a Nistrim vessel despite Tuvok's attempts to override the transporter. With three Nistrim vessels heading directly toward Voyager Janeway said that they would have to wait for another day to deal with Seska. (State of Flux VOY) In 2372, while traveling on a shuttle, Chakotay was captured by the Kazon - Ogla. He escaped with the help of Kar. Kar was a young Kazon warrior. He helped Chakotay escape because on their initial encounter he didn't kill Chakotay and therefore couldn't earn his Ogla name. They escaped to a Kazon moon. Kar tried to find the courage to kill Chakotay ,but he couldn't do it. When a Kazon landing party arrived Kar killed the first maje. He then earned his Kazon - Ogla name. Kar told Chakotay that if ever met again he would not hesitate to kill him. (Initiations VOY) The Kazon used to be one of the most culturally and technologically advanced races in their area of space. This ended when the Kazon were conquered by the Trabe. The Trabe encouraged the sects to fight with each other so it would be easier to control them. The Trabe oppression ended in 2346 when Jal Sankur united the Kazon people and overthrew the Trabe. The Kazon then stole Trabe ships and technology and returned to a status of a spacefaring society. (Maneuvers VOY) After gaining there freedom the Kazon persecuted the Trabe denying them sanctuary on any planet. A Trabe leader called Mabus conspired to assassinate a group of Kazon first majes who were brought together under a guise of a peace conference. His murderous plane failed when Captain Janeway warned the majes just in time. Janeway left the Trabe and the Kazon's hate for the Trabe grew. ( Alliances VOY) Even though the Kazon had the trabe ships thay did not have transporter or replicator technology like species in the Alpha Quadrant. The Kazon are territorial and the borders between sects change every day. In early 2372 there were 18 sects. The seven known sects are the Kazon - Hobii, Kazon - Mostral, Kazon - Nistrim, Kazon - Ogla, Kazon - Oglamar, Kazon - Pommar, and the Kazon - Relora. (Initiations VOY) Seska and a Nistirm first maje named Culluh tried unsuccessfully to steal Voyager's transporter technology. (Maneuvers VOY) Seska used her past relationship with Chakotay to disrupt his dealings with the Nistrim. She artificially impregnated herself with Chakotay's DNA (Maneuvers VOY) Seska told a traitor aboard Voyager, Michael Jonas, to sabatoge Voyager's warpcore. A Kazon ship attacked Voyager with their weapons off line. Neelix managed to get the phasers back online. Seska's plan was unsuccessful and Jonas was killed when he fell into a cloud of warp plasma. (Investigations VOY) When Seska's son was born she told Maje Culluh that the child was his. Seska and Culluh tricked Chakotay and led Voyager into a trap by teeling him that the Maje was going to kill the child. Culluh took command of Voyager and dropped the crew off on a volcanic world and left with Voyager (Basics Part 1 ) Seska sensed that there was a traitor on board and sent Kazon into the jefferies tubes. Then Seska found out that the child was not the result of Chakotay's DNA, but the result of Maje Culluh. While Paris got the Talaxians to help Lon Suder and the Doctor tried to retake the ship. Suder overloaded the weapons for Paris just before he was killed. The ship overloaded. Seska was killed and Maje Culluh grabbed his son and left the ship. Since that incident there hasn't been any contact with the Kazon and Voyager has moved well beyond Kazon space.
In 2375, Seven of Nine was forced to travel into Voyager's past in order to save the ship from a temporal bomb. One of her time travel jumps took her to Voyager's early days in the Delta Quadrant, when the ship was constantly being attacked by the Kazon. Several warships were pounding Voyager's shields with phaser beams. However, the crew managed to evade the ships and escape, while Seven caught to person on board who planted the bomb.
