The Ocampa



The Ocampans were a humanoid race native to the Delta Quadrant. The Ocampa have a life span of about nine years. Ocampa can communicate telepathically as well as verbally. The Ocampan homeworld was almost destroyed about 1,000 years ago when the planet suffered a major ecological catastrophe. The catastrophe was accidentally triggered by intergalactic explorers. Two of the explorers stayed behind to care for the Ocampa. One left and the other stayed. He became known as the Caretaker. From his arry in space the Caretaker provided the Ocampan underground city with power and protected them from the Kazon - Ogla. The Caretaker died in 2371. At that time the Ocampa had enough energy stored to last until 2376. Kes was an Ocampa who fled the Ocampan homeworld with Neelix. Kes entered a different reality after coming in contact with Species 8472.
