"Ah! Home sweet sickbay." --- The Doctor
"Perhaps you are afraid of being alone." --- Seven

Synopsis
While on their long journey home, the crew of the U.S.S. Voyager encounters a very large Mutara - Class nebula. It would take over a year to go around it, so Janeway orders Paris to take Voyager directly through it. However, the crew suddenly finds out that the nebula is filled with dangerous radiation. One crewmember dies before somebody can move Voyager away from the nebula.
Janeway later finds out that the only way to get through the nebula safely is to put everyone but Seven and the Doctor in stasis for a month, since those two are immune to the radiation. Seven and the Doctor will have to run Voyager by themselves. Janeway decides to go ahead and carry out this plan because she is not willing to add an extra year to their journey home.
Once everyone is in stasis, the Doctor and Seven begin checking Voyager’s major systems and maintaining the power for all of the stasis tubes. During the next few weeks, Seven grows more and more irritated. The Doctor says that this is because she isn’t handling the stress of being alone very well. He then decides to take her to the holodeck to teach her how to be more social. The lesson doesn’t go well, and Seven says that it is a waste of time.
Suddenly, the computer shouts out a warning that the ship will be destroyed. Seven determines that there is a problem in engineering. She rushes through the corridors and runs into engineering. However, there is nothing wrong. It appears that the computer is being affected by the radiation as well. Several systems are starting to malfunction.
While in engineering, Seven claims that she saw other people. The Doctor informs her that it was just a hallucination. Soon after, the Doctor’s holoemitter starts to break down and he is forced to isolate himself in sickbay for the rest of the journey.
As Voyager gets closer and closer to the other side of the nebula, Seven meets an alien who is traveling through the nebula as well. It turns out that the alien is a hallucination, just as the people Seven saw earlier had been. Seven heads to the bridge and discovers that there is not enough power to keep the life support system online. However, if she takes power from ten of the stasis tubes, she will have enough power to keep herself alive in order to operate the ship. She starts to feel guilty about killing ten of her crewmates, and she has more hallucinations.
This time Janeway and several others start talking among themselves. They are saying that they knew Seven would kill them. Finally Seven can’t stand the guilt anymore. She reactivates the stasis tubes and deactivates the remaining power for life support. This will allow Voyager to have just enough energy to make it through the nebula, but Seven will die without the air from the life support system. With the air gone, Seven loses consciousness.
She suddenly finds herself awake and staring at Janeway. She tells her that they awoke from the stasis tubes as Voyager left the nebula and fixed the life support before the air ran out. Later in the Mess Hall, Seven, Tom, and some other people are sitting at a table. Seven tells the group how Tom started sleepwalking and left his stasis tube several times. Tom tells her that he just never liked small spaces. Seven suggests that maybe he is afraid of being alone.

My Thoughts
Another excellent episode! The fifth in a row! (Yes, that does include Unforgettable.) In my opinion, Season 4 is turning out to be the best Season so far. Jeri Taylor did a good job with this episode. I think it was the last one she wrote before she turned over Voyager to Brannon Bragga. She will remain as a creative consultant for the show. "One" was ceratinly one of the best Voyager episodes for character development. Most of the character development was for Seven, but the Doctor had some. When the alien came aboard, I didn't know if he was real or just a figment of Seven's imagination. I liked the end scene between Seven and Tom. There was one thng on my mind throughout the whole episode. Why does Voyager have so many stasis tubes? They must have over one hundred forty of them. I think they would take up a lot of space.
