The American troops continue to move to the beach in Voyager’s hull, which they think is a secret German bunker. * * * Janeway and Seven manage to get to the breach. Once they enter Voyager, a holographic Nazi shoots at them. He misses. Janeway picks up her gun and shoots him. “The Hirogen must be busy. This entire deck has been installed with holoemitters.” remarks Janeway. The deck around them is a mess. They run further down the dimly lit corridor and enter Astrometrics. They see another Nazi standing at the controls. He is trying to figure out how they work. He sees Janeway and starts to run. Janeway catches up to him and slams her gun into his shoulder. He collapses. Seven operates the controls and tells Janeway what she has learned. “There are eighty - five Hirogen on board, concentrated on decks two through nine.” “What about the bridge.” “Four Hirogen and Ensign Kim.” “At least we know he’s alive. The neural interfaces...you said they were controlled from sickbay.” “There is one Hirogen in sickbay with the Doctor, but the corridors outside are heavily guarded.” “That’s our first objective, disable the interfaces. We’ll need help.” “In the simulation we had allies, the French Resistance.” Seven tells Janeway. “It’s time we mounted a resistance of our own.” Janeway tells her. They enter the corridor, look around, and start to run. * * * On the bridge, the Hirogen Captain is asking Kim what is going on in the holodeck. “The battle is concentrated in holodeck one, but the fighting has spilled out into decks five and six, and it looks like a group of holo - Americans are invading deck seven.” Harry tells the Hirogen. “Show me the breech.” “We’ve lost the visual link. There’s only one way to stop this. I need to go to engineering and initiate a power surge across the entire network. It will blow the entire system.” “No, that will destroy both holodecks.” the Hirogen tells Kim. “Look, simulation or not, if this keeps going on we might all be killed.” “I want the technology preserved!” shouts the Hirogen Captain. At that moment the Hirogen First walks onto the bridge. He is wearing a Nazi uniform. “Commander,” he acknowledges.” “Status?” “We were able to reach deck five, but their are holo forces massing at the breech. We need help.” “Take the hunters from the Klingon simulation.” “When we find Captain Janeway, should we kill her?” asks the Hirogen first. “No, bring her to me.” “This is no longer a game. This hunt is real. We must kill the prey.” “The crew must remain alive in order to make repairs. We’ll loose everything. The technology, this ship. You said that you understood what we were doing here.” “I’ll get the hunters.” the Hirogen first says as he leaves. * * * “We think it’s a secret compound built after the Nazis took over the city. What I don’t understand is how they camouflaged it so well.” Chakotay says. Chakotay,Tuvok,Torres, and Paris are in Catrine’s establishment. They are discussing the breech, which they think is a secret German bunker. “Indeed. We’ve been scrutinizing troop movements since the beginning of the occupation. Yet we knew nothing of this installation.” Tuvok says. “Don’t sweat it. Our recon planes missed it to.” Paris informs Tuvok. “Any idea of what they might be hiding in there, Captain?” Paris asks Chakotay. “We saw scientific equipment, strange metals and, instruments that can’t be identified. I’ve relayed our findings to intelligence. They believe that it could be an advanced munitions lab, designed to build some kind of super weapon.” “We’ve got to put it out of business!” Paris shouts. “I’ve already sent in three squads, but the Nazis are putting up a fight. I’ve requested backup. This restaurant will serve as our command post. Lieutenant, set up a transmitter and place guards all around this building.” “Yes, sir.” Chakotay then turns to Torres and Tuvok. “You’ve done a bang up job, but we’ll take it from here. Tell your people to lie low and that the Americans said thanks.” Chakotay then turns to walk away. Torres comes after him. “This is our city! We have no intention of lying low!” “Listen honey, the time for sneaking messages back and forth is over. This is war, and you’re not soldiers.” “He’s right.” Tuvok tells Torres. He then talks to Chakotay. “We have weapons hidden throughout the city. Brigitte will show you where they are.” Chakotay nods. “Sounds good. Lieutenant, take care of it.” “Yes, sir.” replies Paris. Chakotay and Tuvok head to another part of the restaurant. Paris and Torres head toward a table near the wall. “I see you haven’t changed.” Paris tells Torres. Torres glares at him. “Bring me one of those street maps.” she tells Paris. He walks over to another table and grabs one. Torres begins to brief him on what weapons they have. “Most of the guns we stole from the German army, we bought the rest of the explosives off of the black market.” “We could use both.” Paris tells her. “Our biggest stock pile is buried here, two meters below this building.” Torres says pointing at the map. “You remember it don’t you?” “I’m no Angel with May West.” Paris says while he laughs. “There’s some heavy fighting in this area.” “What’s the best way in?” “We dug a tunnel directly to the stock pile.” Torres tells him. “Here, I’ll show you. Incidentally, we saw Death Takes a Holiday.” Torres tells Paris. “It was a May West movie, I’m sure of it. She was singing Sister Honky Tonk. During a courtroom scene I kissed you.” “You know I think you’re right.” Torres says. “I guess the experience wasn’t burned into your memory.” “Not the movie, but I remember the kiss.” Torres tells him. “So, did you get my last letter?” Paris asks. “You mean the one asking me to leave France?” “Germany was about to invade. I though you would be safer in the states, with me. I guess you found someone else to take care of you.” Paris says looking at B’Elanna’s stomach. “There’s never been anyone else.” Torres tells him. “Then who?” “He’s second in command of the St. Claire occupation. The first time he saw me he said I was pretty. I took advantage of his interest. He doesn’t know I’m in the resistance. The child is his.” “I’m sorry.” “So am I.” Torres tells herself. Then they her a noise. Chakotay, Tuvok, Paris, and Torres all grab their guns. They watch as a hatch opens on the side of the restaurant. Janeway looks up to see four guns pointing at her. “Hold your fire!” she says sarcastically. “Catrine. You survived.” Tuvok says. “Are you surprised?” “Very. Nazi headquarters was destroyed. You were assumed killed in the explosion.” “What is that? An escape tunnel?” Torres asks. “That is precisely what it is.” Seven tells Torres as she climbs out of the jefferies tube. “You’re the leader of the local resistance?” Chakotay asks. “That’s right,” replies Janeway. “I’m Captain Miller, fifth armored infiltry. This is Captain Davis.” Chakotay says, pointing to Paris. “I take it you’ve seen the German bunker we uncovered?” “We just came from there.” “Can you confirm that it's a German munitions lab?” “Yes, a munitions lab.” “This is it then. I’m going to call in an air strike. Call in the IRF.” Janeway then tells Chakotay that she has a better way to solve the crisis, which will result in less casualties. “Let’s here it.” “I’ve located the generator that powers the entire complex. It’s heavily guarded, but with your help I think I can get close enough to set some explosives.” “I’ was ordered to call in an air strike.” Chakotay tells her. “There’s technology in there that you would never dream of. If you call an air strike it may be the last call you make.” “How will you get close enough?” “The tunnel. I’ve been watching these compounds for several months now. I’ve got a man inside.” “That place is crawling with grouts.” Paris remarks. “That’s why I need your help. If your men can clear the corridors that will give me access to the entryway. I’ll take it from there.” Chakotay remains silent for a second. Then he turns to Paris. “C - Company. What’s their status?” “They’re holding position about two hundred yards away from here.” “Get them on the horn.” Paris nods and Chakotay turns to Janeway. “You’ll lead us into the compound, but I’m coming with you.” “I work better alone.” Janeway tells him. “It isn’t a request, it’s an order.” “Do I look like I’m wearing one of your uniforms? I’ll go alone.” “I thought you needed our help.” Janeway then decides that she works better in a group. Chakotay goes to another part of the room and Janeway starts to talk to Seven. “Even if I manage to disrupt the neural interfaces, we still have a war to fight. We need something more effective that these old firearms.” “I believe I can enhance these weapons using Borg technology. I will have to access cargo bay two.” “If something goes wrong and I don’t succeed, you’ll be the only one who knows what’s really going on.” “Understood,” Seven replies. Janeway gets up and walks to another part of the room. Tuvok then comes up beside her. “Have our suspicions been confirmed?” “Suspicions?” “Is she a collaborator?” “I think we can trust her.” “Are you certain? Three hours ago you were ready to put a bullet in her head.” “She’s on our side.” “In your absence I may be forced to make the decision for myself.” “You’re not to harm her. Understood?” Just then the big, glass window shatters. Everyone inside the restaurant rushes to their weapons. “German forces are advancing on our position!” “Let’s give them a warm welcome.” Chakotay tells everyone. Seven, Janeway, and Chakotay, rush to the jefferies tube, while everyone else fires at the Germans. “After you,” Chakotay tells Janeway. Janeway climbs into the jefferies tube.” * * * “He has a punctured lung and a fractured vertebrate. He needs surgery.” the Doctor continues to diagnose the Voyager crewman laying on one of the biobeds. Just then three Hirogen walk in. The Hirogen medic diagnoses the injured Hirogen. “He has second degree burns to face and lungs. Treat him.” he orders the Doctor. “This man has massive internal injuries! If I don’t treat him he’ll die!” the alarmed Doctor, says while pointing at the Voyager crewman. “Treat his burns or I’ll deactivate your program.” “What kind of physician are you?! The first rule of triage states that critical injuries take priority!” “Your rules, not mine.” the Hirogen medic tells the Doctor. Then the Hirogen deactivates the Doctor’s program. He turns to the other Hirogen in sickbay. “From now on leave the wounded prey where they fall. Tend only to our own.” * * * Neelix and two holographic Klingons are sitting around a fire. Neelix starts to talk. “I’m as dry as the crater at Tarfat. In the middle of the dry season. When it’s dry!” Neelix and the other Klingons start to laugh. Then Neelix reaches for one of the other Klingon’s drink. “I’m not done!” he screams. “Share with your brothers on the eve of battle!” screams Neelix. He then pulls out a knife, and slices one of the Klingons with it. “I may be drunk, but I can still send your sole to the next world and leave your body here to rot. I’d say by the stench of it already has!” Neelix laughs as the Klingon falls to the ground. * * * Ensign Kim is walking cautiously down the corridors of Voyager. He is holding an engineering kit. As he rounds a corner, he sees a Nazi aiming a gun at him. Before Kim can react he hears the sound of a gun being shot. He sees the Nazi fall to the ground. He spins around to see Tom and a holographic American soldier. “Tom!” Kim shouts. “Wrong guy. You speak English?” “Yeah, I speak English.” “You’re American?” Kim nods. Then he starts to thank Tom. “You saved my life. I didn’t see him coming.” “Why are you out of uniform? What company are you with?” “I’m a civilian,” Kim tells him. “In the middle of a battle zone, in France?” He tells his holographic soldier to go ahead of him and he will be right behind him. He then turns to Harry. “Look, I don’t have time for twenty questions. You say you’re an American? All right then, if Betty Gravel came around that corner, what part of her would you be staring at?” Kim remains silent and tries to think of an answer. “I’m sorry, you’ve just ran out of time.” Tom raises his gun and points it at Harry. “Her legs, her legs!” screams Kim. A nervous smile comes across his face. “Bullseye,” Tom tells him. Tom runs past Harry and says, “this time.” Harry sighs a huge sigh of relief. * * * Chakotay and Janeway are crawling through the jefferies tubes. “You’re a gung - ho kind of gal aren’t you?” asks Chakotay. “Does that bother you?” Janeway asks Chakotay. “Nope. It’s just that the girls back home are a little different.” “I guess when it comes to my people’s safety, I tend to get a little.............gung - ho.” “I’m the same way with my men. Not a day goes by when I don’t think to myself that I’ve got to get them home, even if I die trying.” “I know the feeling.” Janeway tells him. Janeway then starts to tap some controls on one of the hatches in the jefferies tube. “We’re about to enter some caves that run under the town.” “Caves?” “We’re going to meet our contact there. I’ll warn you. The people in these caves are a little eccentric. Don’t be alarmed.” * * * Neelix and the rest of the Klingons are singing battle songs around the fire. Then they see Janeway and Chakotay emerge from one of the cave’s entrances. “Good evening, gentlemen.” Janeway greets them. “Who are you, and how did you get passed out battle lines?” Neelix demands. “We’re allies,” Janeway tells him. “Sent by what house?” “The house of..............Tomag.” “Tomag? I’ve never heard of it. “I’m not surprised...it’s a long way from here.” “This battle doesn’t concern you.” “Maybe not, but we’d be honored to fight alongside such great warriors............or we could take our weapons elsewhere.” Janeway and Chakotay turn and start to walk toward the caves. “Wait! Prove your fortitude! Drink!” Neelix tosses Janeway a canteen and starts to shout in Klingon. “I guess my French is a little rusty.” Chakotay says. “Don’t drink it. It’s twice as strong as whisky.” Janeway tells Chakotay that she will be right back and she walks away. She walks around a big boulder. She tries to search for the holodeck controls. She can still hear Neelix shouting, “Prove your fortitude.” to Chakotay. Chakotay tells them , “no thanks.” Janeway finally finds the holodeck controls. She punches a button and the Doctor appears before her. “Captain? Is that you?” “Yes. We have to disable the rest of the interfaces.” The rest of this synopses will be online by March 22.
