Seven of Nine

Seven of Nine is a former Borg drone whose link to the Collective was severed in 2374. She was then forced to join the Voyager crew. Seven was born a human and named Annika Hansen. Her parents were noted scientists. They were last seen in the Omega sector in 2355. They departed on the science vessel The Raven on an expedition to the Delta Quadrant. The Raven encountered a Borg cube somewhere in Bomar space. The Raven crashed on an M - Class planet. Annika’s parents were killed in the accident, but she was assimilated by the Borg and became Seven of Nine, tertiary adjunct of unamatrix zero one. Seven was the liaison to Captain Janeway in 2374 when the Borg Collective and Janeway formed an uneasy alliance in order to defeat the powerful Species 8472. Seven was the only Borg from her cube to survive an attack by Species 8472 and the decompression of Voyager’s cargo bay when the Borg tried to take over Voyager. Seven’s link to the Collective was severed so she could not take over Voyager and assimilate its crew. After her link was severed her Human physiology began to reassert itself. Most of Seven’s Borg technology was removed so she could survive. Seven strongly objected to losing her identity as a Borg, but Janeway helped Seven to become Human again. Seven once said in her log that she found Ensign Kim’s behavior predictable. Janeway told Harry to think of it as a compliment. Seven and Torres have never liked each other. Torres once called Seven an automaton in the Mess Hall while they were working on a project for the Astrometrics Lab. Torres argued with Seven about some calculations. Torres then shouted several profane Klingon insults. Seven told the Doctor that she was right and Torres was wrong. When Voyager received letters from home through the alien array, Janeway told Seven that she might have relatives on Earth. This made Seven rethink her decision to have nothing to do with Earth. Later that year, Seven was forced to pilot Voyager through a vast nebula. With only the Doctor for company, Seven slowly began to loose her mind from lonliness. Although Voyager eventually made it through the nebula, Seven started to value her friendships aboard Voyager.
