Synopsis

When Voyager rescues a Komar vessel in distress, the Doctor introduces its crew to music. Since the Komar have never heard music before, they are thrilled. In fact, they're so thrilled that they invite Voyager to visit the Komar homeworld. This is ununsual, considering the Komar are antisocial. They consider themselves superior to every species.

After the Doctor and Harry and the Kimtones put on a concert in the Mess Hall, the Komar organize a concert on their planet. It's broadcast to hundreds of millions of people, and the Doctor quickly becomes a star. He receives millions of letters from his devoted fans. However, his fame soon becomes more than the crew can handle.

The ship's corridors are packed with enthusiastic fans, wishing to catch a glimpse of the Doctor. He's very flattered by all of the attention he's getting, and he becomes close friends with a Komar woman named Tin Ku. Thinking that the Komar appreciate him more than the Voyager crew does, the Doctor decides to stay on the surface and leave the ship. He changes his mind when the Komar develop a superior Doctor, replacing him. Although he's hurt, he goes ahead and performs one final concert before Voyager leaves orbit and continues its journey home.

After the concert, he apologizes to his friends, especially Seven of Nine. He really offended them when he decided to ditch Voyager in order to be a star. With everything back to normal, the Doctor resumes his daily routine. As he walks through sickbay, he begins to sing a little tune.

My Thoughts

"Virtuoso" was fun and entertaining, just as the last Doctor episode was. In fact, I always love episodes about the Doctor. (The only exception is "Darkling", which is one of the only Voyager episodes I truly dislike.) Robert Picardo turned in another memorable performance as everybody's favorite hologram. He never fails to do so. Kate Mulgrew and Jeri Ryan also performed well. I thought Seven was actually going to cry when the Doctor said his farewells to her. There were some good B'Elanna scenes in this episode, as well as some impressive visual effects. The view of the Komar homeworld was great. I loved seeing the various ships and stations that hung in orbit. There were several hilarious scenes scattered throughout the show. One of them was the scene where the Doctor had to save Harry and the Kimtones from putting the Komar to sleep. Another was the scene where the Doctor dished out miniature singing replicas of himself to his fans. All in all, I'd have to say that "Virtuoso" was another enjoyable Voyager adventure. I'm looking forward to more. My Rating : 10.00 out of 10.00 -- NEXT WEEK : The Voyager crew suddenly begins to recall memories of a devastaing alien war, which they took part in. It sounds interesting. We'll have to see how it turns out.
