Jaxom's Ballad

Jaxom and Ruth helped save the land,
In much the way that Aivas planned;
He faced his troubles, came through it all;
Nothing could stop him, Fog, Fire, or Fall.

He and his dragon, the much-slandered White,
were crucial in ending Pern's long-standing plight.
Some thought he'd not live, any more than a Turn;
But many were glad that he lived to save Pern.

He came through for his people, he came through for his sons;
For what good would it do him once that task was done?
They'd not see the result, it would take quite a while,
To be sure that that deadly threat was exiled.

But not widely is known, the risk young Jaxom took,
to travel in time, to see the forsook;
He went to that world, a diff'rent time plain,
to see if the works of that Pass were in vain.

A heroic man, was this lord of Ruath;
he, with his white, the spawn of Ramoth,
Instrumental in destroying the menace of Thread,
that which (we hope) we no longer need dread.
