Ode to the Proddy Dragon

Now the bronzes blood again,
Dragon, look, your glinting skin
Shines to rouse the other men.

Other golds are flown away,
It's your turn to fly today;
If other's come, the world will pay.

Your lifemate holds you with her will,
She forces you to blood the kill,
In complaint, your voice is shrill.

Your hunger powers all your feats,
You trap the wherries, Need to eat!
Just drink the blood, discard the meat.

You look around, then catch surprise,
A mighty leap, and than you rise,
Beat your wings and take the skies.

The bronzes follow, close at hand,
Most of them don't have a plan,
To catch this wily dragon-dam.

Your strength is vast, the air is clear,
Those puny bronzes can't catch you here,
You'll fly all day, no cause to fear.

But wait! That shadow following you,
How'd he get up here? And too,
Where's the rest? Not even a few?

You turn your neck and twist your spine,
Is this the one whose neck will twine,
Will catch me now, and love be mine?

You turn to see the only one,
Which was his plan, you cannot run!
He captures you! Your flight is done!

You never got to see his face,
The time flew fast, and wrong the place,
You snuggle down in his embrace.
