You walk into a run-off cave in the cavern. Vanetin gestures up to
the ledge, and, her eyes unfocusing briefly, out walks a green dragon.
She smiles with satisfaction, "There's Pardeyth." The blue and brown
lizard-creatures take off from her shoulders to land on the ledge and chitter
with the dragon. Vanetin smiles to them, then waves, "Hello, Pardeyth!"
The dragon cocks her head at you, uttering a soft croon. She then
glances to Vanetin, creeling hungrily, and Vanetin nods, "Yes, I know,
Pardeyth, I'll feed you just as soon as our guest leaves." She smiles
to you, "Oh, she said she's hungry." Said? All you heard was
a croon... Seeing your confusion, Vanetin smiles, "You see, with dragons,
communication is telepathic." Her eyes unfocus for a brief moment,
and then you hear a deep, resonant voice that sounds as if it was coming
from inside your head,
<Hello.
I am Pardeyth.> Smiling at the incredulous
look on your face, Vanetin says with satisfaction, "Ah, good, I wasn't
sure if she'd do it. That was her, by the way." You send an
amazed glance up to the dragon, and you're sure she winked at you with
those rainbow-faceted eyes!
Vanetin
nods to the entranceway of the cave, "Let's go." She gestures you
back through the doorway.
