The Longest Road

I see you look out into space,
to escape your present state,
I can see it on your face:
The pain, the hope, the hate.

The dreams now look impossible,
no matter how hard you try;
You've faced every obstacle,
short of having to fly.

The world does nothing to ease the work,
your shoulders are stiff and bent;
You've had  your share of grime, in the dirt,
so what of the time you've spent?

It feels like nobody really cares,
just when you need their cheers;
And alone you walk the longest road,
as you face your deepest fears.

But remember this, my brother:
though it's harder than it seemed,
You've got to trust your faith;
ya gotta chase yer dreams.
