You got questions, we have answers.

What exactly is the deal with this site? Well here's where the base commander answers all of those questions you didn't want to take the time to e-mail me about.

Q. What's with this place? I can't find anything!

A. Briefly, COMBASE:NOVA is layed out like an actual XCOM base so things aren't going to just jump out and let you know what they are (yet, I may build in a site map later). In general though it helps to use your imagination to figure things out since some of the areas are no-brainers, like the lounge (come on, you'll find the message board here, that was easy enough) or the barracks (soldier info).

Q. Who are you and why did you build this place?

A. I'm known by various alias's on the web but the upshot is, none of your business. I can tell you I'm a college student at a major U.S. university and you may be able to figure out a bit more about me if you look around the site. Other than that, I built COMBASE:NOVA because so many other XCOM sites were just a collection of rehashed info you'd seen over and over again (some still are). Also I have my own ideas about how XCOM works and I love experimenting with sci-fi and fiction writing which makes this place a good area to write things out since a small number of people come here.

Q. What else is going to be added to the base and what is going on in general?

A. You can find most of this out by going back to the main menu where you came in and hitting the Base Operations Bulletin (B.O.B.). That'll tell you what's new (or not) since your last visit. You can also access the long term project list from the Bulletin which gives you a summary of what is being worked on for NOVA.

Q. Can I submit my own writing's to you for inclusion or showcasing at COMBASE:NOVA?

A. Yes, if there's something XCOM related you either can't or won't display at a web page of your own, I'll be happy to set it up and run it off the War Library here at NOVA. A number of other XCOM web author's will generally do the same thing even though we are relatively scarce now.

Q. How can I get linked from COMBASE:NOVA?

A. If your site is XCOM related it gets a link regardless of how small or undeveloped it is, just give me the url. If your site deal's with something else, I'll have to take a look at it and make a decision but in either case, e-mail me at ncript@hotmail.com.

Q. How often is this site updated?

A. Essentially, whenever I get around to it or when I feel inspired (not that often). I do, however, generally never let eight or nine days go by without posting something to the operations bulletin about a possible update or lack thereof, this is a long term development and I ain't in this for the hits.

Q. Phrackwulf, huh? Now, where have I heard that name before?

A. If you're a member of the Jihad to Destroy Barney, you may know me as a member of the JAO (Jihad Autonomous Organization) M.A.U.L. (Midwesterner's Against Ugly Lizards) and hopefully soon to be fire team leader of the new Ready Reaction Team under the Mechanized Heavy Infantry Division of the above JAO. Otherwise, you may know me from hanging around the XCOM scene long enough as I was a frequent poster back at Leo Radvinsky's Apocalypse Central, you can read more about that by checking out the XCOM web history at the Command Center.

Q. Hmmm okay, so what's the deal with this page's layout? My sister has a fancier page than you!!!

A. Hey, life sucks, okay? I'm a Mechanical Engineering Major not Computer Science, to be precise, some of my illustrious colleagues are still having trouble understanding the concept of "e-mail." Sometimes there's no getting through to the highly intelligent.
