The would-be world ruler Apocalypse has taken "survival of the fittest" to a new level. Attempting to pit the mutant populace against eachother so that the weak may be culled from the strong, Apocalypse has time and again combatted the 'weak' X-Men who seek to protect the 'unfit'. Of particular interest to Apocalypse is the X-Man known as Angel. It was Apocalypse that gave Warren his metal wings and attempted to turn Warren into his Angel of Death. He found something in the X-Man that demonstrated a worthiness not often found.

  Born in Egypt, En Sab Nur was left to die due to his hideous countance and blue lips. A clan of warriors adopted the child and taught him of "survival of the fittest". Battling the villian known as Rama Tut, Apocalypse usurped technology of amazing capabilities. Able to control every particale in his body, Apocalypse has lived for countless years awaiting the time when his final battle will be unleashed upon the world and finally the fit will be revealed.

  When Cyclops and Phoenix were pulled into the future by their other worldly daughter Rachel, they confronted a world ruled by Apocalypse. Humans were subjugated and mutants found themselves the equivilant to royalty. Slim and Red, as they were known, defeated him in final battle, but his death will not come for many many years.

  The Age of Apocalypse was created when Legion, Xavier's son, went back in time and killed Charles Xavier. Apocalypse saw Magneto and Legion's battle and began his conquest. In this alternate timeline, humans (flatscans) were slaughtered by the millions and mutants reveled in decadence. The X-Men, under Magneto's leadership, were able to defeat Apocalypse and restore the proper timeline thanks to the displaced mutant known as Bishop.
