The insiduous alien race called the Brood have been one of the X-Men's most hated enemies from almost the beginning. These insectisoid creatures implant embryos in the bodies of other species. The young Brood eventually takes over the host body when it matures and becomes capable of switching from Brood form to the host form. These aliens have been hunted by almost all senient beings. They took intrest in Earth due to its large population of prime hosts bodies. The X-Men have battled them in space and on Earth. It is the Queen Brood that is capable of implanting the babies and time and again the X-Men have hunted down the resident Queen at all costs.

   Recently, an earthly female was implanted with a Queen egg. Whether it was her deeply religious faith or sheer will power, she was able to resist the dominating influence while remaining Brood at heart. She became a human in a Brood body. The Brood Empress, Queen of Queens, ordered her first born to slaughter this benign Earthly Queen due to her detrimental effects on the collective Brood conciousness. The X-Men stopped the first born from killing her, but only by putting her into a cryogenic freeze. Some members of the X-Men wanted to kill her outright, but Bishop revealed that in his future there was a sect of Brood that was benevolant and not evil. Its likely that this is the result of her influence.
