The genius named Rory Campbell has been at the forefront of scientific research on Muir Island. In order to treat a captured Acolyte known as Spoor, Rory had Captian Britian design an array of lasers set to prevent anyone from becoming violent. In this environment, Spoor would be powerless and unable to inflict any harm. Trying to break Spoor's homicidal tendancies, Rory used pill to counteract Spoor's mutant power to emit spoors that enrage people to uncontrolable levels. Thinking Spoor menatally defeated, Rory forgot to take enough pills to counteract the spoors. In a moment of utter rage and anger, Rory attacked Spoor, intending to kill him. The laser defense grid sprang into action and seared off Rory's left leg.

   In one of the futures the X-Men have visited, they met a man calling himself Ahab, Master of Hounds. His intense hate for mutants drove him to turning them into nothing more than slaves. This absolute joy in causing mutants pain may have come as a direct result of Spoor causing the loss of his leg, for the mad Ahab is what Rory Campbell may become.

   As a possible start to a world of villiany, Rory sold all the imformation he and Moira MacTaggert had collected on the Legacy Virus to Sebastian Shaw. Only time will tell if he will evolve into the mad Ahab.
