The doppelganger of earth 616's Hank McCoy is from the Age of Apocalypse. A master scientist, he worked with Mr. Sinister, experimenting on human 'cattle' at his leisure. When Magneto and the X-Men came to put the Age of Apocalypse to an end, he tried to jump into the Marvel Universe proper. Quicksilver attempted to alter his course, but the Dark Beast suceeded in entering earth 616. Along with Sugar Man, he arrived back in the time period when Xavier was 'killed'. From there, he went to establish the society of mutants underneath New York called the Morlocks.

Other dealings involve planning and scheming with Emma Frost aka the White Queen. Currently, he seems to have some interest in Marrow's position as an X-Man, and believes that she will eventually bring about their ruin.
