As Bishop's younger sister, Shard grew up in the future. In her world, mutants were members of the Xavier. Security. Enforcers., a police like squad. During one of the X.S.E.'s battles, Shard was taken over by an Emplate, one of a multitude of beings somehow related to the Emplate from our time and brother to M. Bishop was forced to kill her in the line of duty but with advanced technology she became a holographic lifeform. She was alive, at least she thought, but she could phase in and out of solidarity, while still maintaining her natural mutant energy blasts.

   Bishop brought Shard back through time when he followed Fitzroy, in a hand held projector, but it was damaged and he didn't know how to fix it, so he went to Forge, hoping he could repair it. Forge suceeded, with a few initial mistakes, and allowed Shard to become an independant being, with no need for a projector. Since Forge had been part of X-Factor, Shard joined with the team and developed a flirtatious relationship with Wild Child. Kevin left and Shard remained with the team through it all. When the Xaviers. Underground. Enforcers. came back in time, with Shard's unknowing help, she wasn't too happy but felt the best would still be accomplished remaining with X-Factor. She remains currently, and just watched Havok die in a mid-air explosion...
