The beastly creature known only as Sugar Man is a refugee from the Age of Apocalypse. In that alternate reality, he was in command of a gigantic slave labor operation. When the next generation of X-Men, under the leadership of Colossus and Shadowcat, attempted to break out the mutant teleporter Illyana Rasputin, they seemingly killed the Sugar Man and began a rebellion that left many mutants and humans dead. However, the Sugar Man had not been killed. Rather he had shrunk down to minute size and followed Colossus to the M'Krann crystal, in the hopes of gaining acess to reality 616 (the normal Marvel Universe). He suceeded, and, unlike Nate Grey, emerged in the early part of the 20th century. His penchance for scheming brought him to Genoshia, where he became the mastermind behind the whole mutant supressing society.
