Brief Description of Powers and Abilities: Speed, Strength, Dexterous

Warpath is an Apache Native American raised in Arizona. His older brother, John, was in the X-Men under the code name of Thunderbird, but gets himself killed almost as quickly as Blink. So James puts the blame on the X-Men, especially Xavier, and comes along and joins the Hellions, led by Emma Frost, under the name of Thunderbird II. (Real original, huh?) He tries to kill Xavier once, gets in fights with the New Mutants on various occasions, and beats up on Banshee. Then he gets hit with the fury of a lighting bolt by the hideous revelation that (gasp!) Johnny had death coming for him, and it wasn't the X-Men's fault he acted so foolishly. So James stays with the Hellions out of a sense of loyalty.

Later, Cable offers him a spot on X-Force, but James declines and opts to go home to the reservation instead. So James travels back home to Camp Verde, the reservation where he was raised, only to find it demolished, and everyone he ever knew in childhood lying there dead, and a Hellfire Club mask lying around in the ruins. So James conjectures the Hellfire Club came and murdered the whole reservation to get revenge on James for leaving the Hellions, so he joins X-Force, (whaddya know!! Bet ya never saw that coming!!)

He changes his code-name to Warpath in X-Force, after a term applied to Native Americans when they go to fight. He is a very loyal member of the team, and an excellent soldier. He takes a serious liking to Siryn, and helps her out a lot, and she becomes his best friend, but doesn't return his feelings (*sigh* ain't it always the way). So he gets tired of waiting, and meets a mysterious young woman named Risque, in a junkyard, who later saves his life from the Black Queen. James becomes very attached to Risque, and has a nice little fling with her in Florida, but he hears about Onslaught wreaking havoc in New York and comes back to Westchester and returns to X-Force with her. X-Force gets its ass kicked by Mr. Sinister (WOO HOO), and Risque disappears in the fight, leaving James a mite (okay, very) preoccupied. After an adventure up at Castle Doom in Latveria, Risque appears again, which makes James very happy,(SAP!!), but then she drugs him and gives him to a guy in Detroit named Sledge, which makes James very unhappy with her(DuH!!).

So he dumps her something awful, making her feel rotten. While he was with Sledge, he finds out at least one person from Camp Verde is still alive, and Sledge promises him a meeting with the survivor if James does a "favor"(creepy music) for Sledge. James went off to find Michael Whitecloud, a survivor of the massacre on Camp Verde. He told James and Theresa that a group calling Project: Stepladder, doing illegal medical research, and headed by a Dr. Edwin Martynec, who also was the villain in the Flashback issue, was responsible for the massacre. They were looking for Whitecloud, who was doing a report on them and hiding a couple of witnesses at his house. But before he could tell them who was funding Stepladder, his head exploded! (I'm not kidding here, they got to him and stuck a device in his head that blew up before he could blow the whistle on them! But of course we wouldn't find outÉwhy that would actually be doing something decent... and hey its Marvel we're talking about here!!).

So they went to find his documents about the project, and they got found by Martynec, who revealed Stryfe was the one who was sponsoring Stepladder (he's explained in Part III). Very recently, James was almost killed by Dr. Martynec, but he went to Hell and defeated Stryfe, who was trying to get back to Earth in James' body, so he came back to life. And his friendship with Theresa is intact( can we say "CRAP" boys and girls...Good! I knew you could.)
