Why are they necessary?
Heroes serve a basic need in the human psyche. We need to believe as much as we need to take in air, consume food, and procreate.
A hero inspires. A hero motivates.The delightful Mary Jane Watson-Parker is as heroic and inspirational as any character in comics. Just shows that you don't need a funny suit and a weird name to do something positive.
We all need to be inspired.How does one become a hero?
You can be exposed to cosmic rays, get bitten by a radioactive spider,be the last survivor of your doomed planet, or perhaps you witness a horrific event and say "never again".
Someone's got to put on long underwear and go out and fight the good fight.
