The Bride of Bizarro
Part 1: As Judy Donatello brags to all of TV land about her new satellite broadcasting system, someone in space listens to the signals being broadcast. Judy begins to speak about her topic for today's show, bizarre relationships. While she introduces her guests a streak of red and blue shoots down toward her studio. A familiar figure moves down the hall of the studio as people frantically avoid it and run away from it terrified. Suddenly, Judy's studio doors are lying flat on the floor and a white-faced thing in a Superboy costume stands in the entrance. "You call Bizarro?!" it asks.
Meanwhile, Lex Luthor and his "assistant" Darla are wathing TV in their lair, which is an old prison. Something catches Lex's eye as he glances at the TV screen. "Hold the phone, that's Bizarro." Bizarro speaks to Judy Donatello saying "All me want is someone to love." Lex chuckles as he hears this and instantly an idea enters his head. An idea that could spell trouble for Superboy.
Elsewhere in Capitol City, at the Bureau for Extra-normal Matters, Clark Kent is in the second week of his job as an intern. His boss, Dennis Jackson, calls him into his office. He tells Clark a new intern will soon be arriving. He then begins searching for a file on cattle mutilations on his somewhat cluttered desk. Clark uses x-ray vision and scans through the file folders instantly locating the file. "How'd you do that?" Jackson asks. "Archaeology is my minor at Shuster." says Clark. Moments later Jackson's new intern walks in and she is none other than Lana Lang. Clark rushes to greet her and as she enters Jackson's office, Matt Ritter, a field agent at the bureau, runs in with his TV set. "The Bureau has every high-tech gadget you could want, except a lousy cable connection." he says. "If you'd open your eyes...." his boss responds as he reveals a cable wire in the wall. Matt hooks up the set and a picture of Bizarro flashes on the screen. Lana's expression turns to one of horror. Clark slowly slips out of the room and disappears.
Superboy arrives at the TV studio where the Judy show is being filmed. He and Bizarro battle each other until Bizarro slams Superboy into some equipment in the studio and runs away. He flies to a rooftop in the city to be alone. The call of a strange pigeon draws his attention. He notices the pigeon is white and abnormal. Not at all like other pigeons. He wonders where this strange bird came from.
Not far away, a bright ray of energy shoots out of a gun-like machine and strikes a pigeon in Luthor's lair. Instantly, another ray hits empty air and a new pigeon, white and strange, appears. "That's 12 of them. That oughta do it." says Luthor. As he releases the white duplicate pigeon, Bizarro appears holding another of the duplicate pigeons. Luthor tells Bizarro he can use the machine to make Bizarro happier than he's ever been before. He can create a bride for Bizarro. There is one condition, however. He needs more power to create a full size human being. (or Bizarro being) He instructs Bizarro to go to the Schiff Military Research Base and steal the kryptonite they have there for use as a power source. Also, Bizarro must use it to kill Superboy before he can have his bride. Bizarro agrees and flies off.
Back at the Bureau, Dennis Jackson and Matt Ritter are investigating a strange white bird they have in a cage when Clark and Lana give them some important news. They say many reports of strange white birds exploding in the sky are being received. Just then, the bird begins to smoke and Clark rushes up the stairs and throws the bird out the window just as it explodes. He pretends to be blown back by the force of the explosion. Lana and Clark explain to Dennis and Matt why the Bizarro duplicates are unstable and explode and why Bizarro is still alive. Suddenly, Clark hears an alarm from across the city. He quickly leaves the Bureau and flies toward the source of the alarm.
Bizarro has broken into the military base and is now flying toward Luthor's lair with the kryptonite. Superboy flies up behind him and tries to attack him. However, the kryptonite makes him weak and sends him plummeting down to a rooftop. Bizarro lands to pick up the kryptonite he has dropped and places one piece next to Superboy to kill him. He then returns to Luthor's lair. He gives Luthor the kryptonite and tells Luthor that Superboy is dead. Luthor then places the kryptonite in the machine. He calls Darla over to him and places her in front of the machine. The machine is activated blasting Darla with its powerful rays. Soon, a bizarro duplicate of Darla has been created. When she sees Bizarro, however, she screams in horror. Luthor tries to convice Bizarro that she does love him but as he speaks the unstable duplicate begins to smoke. He immediately throws it toward Bizarro. Bizarro-Darla explodes in Bizarro's arms. Bizarro now thinks Luthor has tricked him. He moves in to kill Luthor as Luthor screams. "Darla, he's going to kill me!" "Lex, what do you want me to do?!"
Back on the rooftop, Superboy crawls away from the kryptonite laid there by Bizarro. he reaches the roof's edge and rolls over. Still weakened, he falls down directly toward the sidewalk below.
End part One
Part 2: Superboy falls halfway down the side of the building until he regains his strength and is able to pull up and fly into the air. He arrives at Luthor's lair just in time to stop Bizarro from killing Luthor. Bizarro and Superboy battle each other while Luthor and Darla escape with the duplicating ray. Luthor wonders why the Bizarro-Darla fell in love with him and the real Darla offers an idea. "Well, I did. You're just an irresistable kind of guy." Luthor begins to tell Darla how stupid she is but then realizes she is right. He now knows he has to make a Bizarro bride from someone who loves Superboy.
Later, Clark and Matt Ritter are at a local restaurant where they hear news of exploding white flowers that were delivered to people's homes. "Bizarro duplicates." Clark explains. Suddenly, the TV news program is interrupted by an announcement from Lex Luthor. He says that if Superboy doesn't show up at his new lair by midnight he will aim the duplicator ray at a communications satellite sending it into people's homes and creating explosive bizarro duplicates of the population. "At last! A long-lost twin to call my own! For a while at least, and then BOOM!" exclaims the insane Luthor.
Meanwhile, Lana is in her car listening to a recorded radio broadcast from Luthor when the real Luthor suddenly appears next to her car. He abducts her and carries her back to his lair.
Superboy goes in search of Bizarro so he can have help against Luthor. He fins Bizarro on the same rooftop he was on before. He tells Bizarro that he knows how he feels and that he experiences the same things Bizarro does. When he asks for Bizarro's help, Bizarro tells him to leave. Knowing he can't reason with Bizarro, Superboy flies off.
It's now almost midnight. Luthor is preparing to aim his duplicator ray at the satellite. In the city, television sets are piling up in the streets since no one wants to take any chances. Back at Luthor's lair, Bizarro arrives, hoping that he can get still get his bride from Luthor. Luthor makes Bizarro agree, once again, to kill Superboy in return.
Back outside, Superboy watches as Luthor fires the duplicator ray into space. He follows the path of the ray until it nears the satellite. Once the satellite is in view, Superboy sends out a blast of super-breath, blowing the satellite out of the ray's path. The ray continues moving harmlessly into space. Superboy then follows the ray back to Luthor's lair. He breaks in through ceiling and lands in front of Luthor. "Don't you ever even think about using a door?" says Luthor. "It's midnight. I'm here." "So you are. Very prompt. And very brave, I might add, considering you know I've got the kryptonite. Gee I wish I could admire that. However this time I'm opting for a certain irony in having you meet your end at the hands of a, uh, friend." Bizarro steps out of the darkness holding a piece of kryptonite. Behind him a Bizarro-Lana appears. Now Luthor has come through for Bizarro and Bizarro feels he must hold up his end of the deal. Quickly, Lana appears also and rushes to Superboy's side. She tries to convince Bizarro that he is not a killer. Finally, Bizarro Lana speaks out telling Bizarro that Lana is right. "If you are a killer, me will not love you anymore." she says. Bizarro listens, and throws the kryptonite away. Luthor, realizing he's in trouble, runs into the back of the room with Darla. "Contingency plan, now!" he says. Suddenly, an army of Bizarro Luthors marches out toward Superboy and Bizarro. The two send Lana and Bizarro Lana away and watch as Luthor's plan backfires. Luthor notices the bizarro duplicates are smoking. "They're smoking. Didn't you treat them with the bizarro kryptonite?" he asks Darla. All Darla can say is, "No. I thought you were supposed to do that." The Bizarro Luthors explode one by one and the force of the explosions destroys Luthor's hideaway. Luthor and Darla disappear.
Superboy and Bizarro climb out of the rubble. Lana and her bizarro double come over to them. Bizarro apologizes for what he did. "Luthor confuse me." he says. Superboy accepts the apology. "Luthor was evil man. But him do one good thing." says Bizarro. "He make Bizarro happy." Bizarro then takes his bride Bizarro Lana and the two fly away together.
