He informs Supes that he is in great danger and that Adam Verrel is the cause of it. Superboy flies off to find Lana who is out with Adam. When he arrives, Lana is dying. She dies in Superboy's arms and Verrel quickly makes everyone believe that Superboy killed her.

Tommy discovers Lana is alive and Adam used a special drug to stop her heartbeat and breathing just long enough for him to get her out of the building. Adam reveals he is using a special machine designed by Tommy to make the people of Capitol City go crazy. He wasnt Tommy to adjust the machine and make it more powerful so the people of the city will destroy themselves. Back at the prison, teh other inmates begin to go crazy. Superboy starts to break out, but instead decides to wait. The warden appears, also insane, and tells Superboy that a cure exists for Tommy, but he didn't give it to him because he wanted Tommy out of the way. Superboy realizes he has to escape and breaks down the door to his cell. He heads to the Bureau and finds everyone there is insane also. Except for one man, the blind newsstand operator Artie. Clark then realizes that the screens put up by Adam are causing the insanity. He turns to Superboy and begins smashing the screens one by one until Adam's image appears on one telling him where to find him and Lana. Superboy arrives at Adam's basement and is assaulted by a weapon Tommy developed. Tommy tries to stop Adam and throws him into a furnace, killing him. Superboy frees Lana and tells Tommy that a cure exists. Tommy heads out to get the cure and, possibly, to experiment again.

He goes on a rampage through the city destroying homes, cars, and businesses. Superboy can't go up against him, but he discovers a look-alike named Vic (Gerard Christopher) and convinces him to help. Vic, dressed as Superboy, goes up against the Krytonite Kid, but KK discovers he isn't the real Superboy. The real Superboy has to step in to save Vic at the same time risking his life against the power of kryptonite. Vic realizes Superboy is in danger, and becomes a hero by stopping the Kryptonite Kid and saving Superboy's life.
The Basement- Lana goes out to investigate ghost sightings in a family's basement. In the basement, she finds a young girl. The girl seems innocent, but suddenly grabs Lana and attaches a small device to her neck. The device glows and a beam of energy connects the device on Lana's neck to the one on the girl's neck. The girl grows and changes and becomes a perfect duplicate of Lana. She reveals to Lana that she is an alien from a world where people have no identities. They take the identities of others to stay alive. The alien begins using the device to try and take Lana's identity from her, but before it can a phone rings upstairs. Lana tells the alien that it is a warning system. If she doesn't answer her friends will know she's in trouble. The alien is distracted and Lana breaks off a piece of the device on her neck. The alien begins to take Lana's memories and has absorbed quite a bit of information when the device malfunctions and breaks the connection. The alien goes to the Bureau and convinces everyone there, including Clark, that she is Lana. She then returns to the basement after telling Clark that she would return at 7:00 that night. Back at the basement, the alien demands Lana to tell her everything about Superboy. Time passes. It's now 9:00 Pm. Clark is worried about Lana and goes to the basement as Superboy to check things out. He finds two Lanas lying on the floor, each claiming the other is the alien. Superboy takes the one he thinks is Lana. This one tells him before he goes to kill the "alien" like he always does. Superboy, who always tries NOT to kill, turns and looks at the other Lana, the real one who says "I lied." The alien grabs Superboy's throat and attaches the device to him. It starts to change into him, but Lana pulls the device off Superboy's neck and exposes it to empty air. The alien screams and duplicates what was on the other end, thin air.
Darla Goes Ballistic- Lex just won't pay attention to Darla. He ignores her and won't even acknowledge her presence on her birthday. Darla, out of frustration, drinks an incomplete formula that Luthor is developing and becomes super-smart. The formula also gives her psychokinetic powers. Darla decides Luthor isn't enough for her so she now wants Superboy all to herself. She kidnaps Lana and Clark in order to bring Superboy to her. She puts Luthor in charge of watching over Clark and Lana to make sure they don't escape. Clark convinces Luthor to let him go so he can contact Superboy, who may be able to cure Darla. Superboy and Luthor work together to find a cure and discover an antidote just as Matt informs them that Darla's powers will destroy the world in 38 minutes. Lex tries to get Darla to take the antidote, but Darla has created a shield around herself and can't control it. Finally, Lex finds a way to make Darla drop the shield. He tells her he loves her and gives her the attention she wanted from the beginning. She takes the antidote and becomes her old self again just in time.
Paranoia- UFO's have landed outside of Capitol City and the aliens aboard have no scent to be tracked by. Meanwhile, the heads of the Bureau for Extra-Normal matters arrive and tell Jackson that one of his field agents has information that could affect national security. Joseph Flynn (Jordon Williams) questions the staff members including Clark and Lana. All the staff begin to get paranoid. One woman attempts suicide fearing they know about her affair and are going to tell her husband. She is saved by Superboy. When the day is over, 6 staff members are called back to the Bureau. Clark, Lana, Matt, Jackson, Alexis (Noel Neill), and Lou (Jack Larson). Flynn was found murdered and all of them could be suspects. Earlier that night, Clark and Lou went to see Flynn and found him dead. Lana also came to see Flynn, but she found him alive and well after Clark had already been there. Clark realizes that Flynn wasn't murdered. He faked his death. Not only that, but Clark discovers that Flynn, the other head of the Bureau and the policemen who came to investigate the murder are aliens and are on the run since they are escaped convicts. They generate emotions instead of heat and these 4 generate paranoia.
Know Thine Enemy, Part 1- Lex Luthor is ready to blow up the world. He has a nuclear device planted in Capitol City that will wipe out all life on earth. Strangely, his underground lab is ground zero. Superboy is distracted by a supersonic signal sent out by Luthor from an abandoned lab. He arrives at the abandoned lab to find Lana has followed him. Together, they discover a computer disk labeled "The Life and Times of Lex Luthor". Superboy activates the disk and a hologram of Luthor appears telling about the "psychodisk" being a device that transfers Luthor's memories to an android host. Superboy, against Lana's advice, enters the world of Luthor's memories. He lives Luthor's abused childhood and "meets" Luthor's sister Lena (Jennifer Hawkins), the only person Luthor ever loved. But outside in the real world, Luthor reveals his android duplicates of himself and Lena to Darla. He says they will survive the holocaust and live on together. Also, Lana discovers that if Superboy remains in the machine any longer, he will be trapped in a never-ending loop of Luthor's memories. She goes in to rescue him, and finds him, as Luthor, preparing to kill his (Luthor's) parents with a bomb. She appears telling him he isn't a killer and fades away like a ghost. As this happens, Luthor activates the countdown on his death bomb.
Know Thine Enemy, Part 2- Lana must get Superboy out fast. She appears again and stays this time. She finally convinces Superboy he isn't really Luthor and stops him from killing Luthor's "virtual" parents. This breaks the memory loop and allows them to return to the real world. Lana knows now that Lena will be the person to stop Luthor, but she finds out Lena died in a car crash one week ago. She does, however, learn that Lena's utilities were turned off the day before her death, and her body was never found. She goes to find Lena, who she believes is still alive. Meanwhile, Superboy is called to Luthor's lab by Darla who, moments ago, shot Luthor in the shoulder to try and stop him from detonating the bomb. Luthor unleashes the android duplicate of himself. The android fights with Superboy and is about to beat him when Lana arrives with the now 23 year-old Lena (Denise Gossett). Lena tells Luthor that she never loved him but hated him, and that he is like a cancer on her life, since he kills everything he touches. Luthor, broken-hearted, refuses to stop the countdown. But the android quickly utters a code that halts the countdown and disables to bomb. Lena leaves and Luthor is left behind knowing that the only person he ever loved is out of his life forever.

A small gun is discovered between the outer wall and the retaining wall and it begins to float and fires at the wall which Lana happens to be standing in front of. Superboy grabs the gun and breaks down the retaining wall to discover the 80 year old skeleton of a musician Jonny Carino (Gerard Christopher) who played in the Trocadel, a ballroom which was in the building back in the 30's. Carino was murdered by his boss who is also a mobster. Before his murder, he told his girlfriend Lisa that they would meet at the Trocadel that night so they could go and be married. He told her he would wait for her forever if he had to. Lana gets an idea an leaves. Sudennly, hell really does break loose. The hole in the wall where the skeleton was begins to glow and pulls things toward it. The doors close and are stuck shut. Things fly all over the room. Jonny's ghost appears and tells Lisa that he waited for her and he will still be there waiting until she's ready. He disappears and is now at peace again.

He goes on a quest to find his aunt Cassandra and tracks her down to an old cabin far outside of Capitol City. She is dying of cancer. Once again, Azrael appears. But the process leaves Superboy weak and disoriented. Bizarro is made to look human by having artificial skin grafted onto his body. Lana tries to stop him and all three vanish in a white flash. They reappear in a space ship, imprisoned in a large cell. A group of other prisoners comes toward them. They bow down to Superboy and call him a great warrior they have been waiting for for years. The leader of this group of people explains that their planet became barren and no food could grow. A ship was built to take them to a new world. The man scrapes dust off the wall revealing drawings of what happened. He explains the ship was built by the current captain's grandfather. Soon, another group of people appears. These claim to be of a different race. They are led by a woman stronger than Superboy. The captain of the ship, watching everything on a video screen in his quarters decides Superboy must be controlled. He sends a guard to take Lana away. She is placed in solitary, which is located near the engines where there is intense heat that could kill her. Superboy is then taken to the captain. The captain wants Superboy to keep the prisoners fighting each other. He says he only brought Superboy there because he wanted to prove the prophecy of the hero that could free them wrong. The captain claims he is headed for a paradise planet just west of Alpha Centauri. Superboy returns to his cell and Lana is returned also. Superboy calls the guard to the cell and challenges him to a fight. The guard agrees and the fight begins. While the two try to get an edge, Superboy tells the guard that the captain doesn't know where he's going. He says there is no west in outer space. The guard understands and everyone in the cell bands together to break down the cell doors. The different races work together instead of fighting. The captain is locked in a cell all by himself. He loses his mind and sits there yelling orders to people who aren't there.

While Metallo trys to kill her, Luthor removes the kryptonite from Metallo's chest. He uses it on Superboy, until a beam of heat vision sends a pair of prop dice from the casino, tumbling on him. He puts them into a giant crushing machine in a warehouse and tries to get info out of them. Superboy arrives but he is afraid the curse will work against him and cause him to hurt Lana. Lana begins to chant an incantation that she says counteracts the curse. Superboy stops the machine and saves her. As Jackson prepares to leave, the Kents overhear him telling Matt that the crystal will be arriving at the hotel soon. He sends Matt to get it and he and Lana leave on foot. Clark goes to the hotel to get the crystal but before he can get ahold of the package, Richard, a man who used to bully Clark, appears behind the counter and tells Clark that no one can have that package except the man named Jackson. Clark leaves and gets some advice from his father. He returns to the hotel dressed as Superboy. Richard is intimidated by him and hands over the package. As Clark leaves, he stubs his toe on a stone on the sidewalk. Lana, who is always suspicious, just happens to see this and follows Clark. Clark finds the ship and inserts the crystal.
