Q&A A Tale of the Legion of Super-Heroes by CGISPERT

Cast: Umbra (Tasmia Mallor), Apparition (Tinya Wazzo Nah/Phase), Sensor(Jeka Wynzzor), Karate Kid (Val Armorr), Monstress(Candi Pypone-Le Parc III), Thunder (CeCe Beck), Triad (Luornu Durgo), Dyrd Magz, XS (Jenni Ognats), Ultra Boy (Jo Nah), Live Wire ( Garth Ranzz), Spark( Ayla Ranzz), Saturn Girl (Imra Ardeen), Brainiac 5.1 (Querl Dox/Brainy), Chameleon (Reep Daggle), all the Legionnaires except for M'Onel, and Andromeda!

Setting: This *is* the talk that Umbra wanted to have with Apparition about M'Onel and what he was like in the twentieth century. Back when he and the Phase body were in the L.E.G.I.O.N. together. The Legion members who knew *have* told those who didn't that M'Onel was/is Valor.

Legion HQ commisary:

The entire Legion membership on Earth are eating dinner. Umbra turns to Apparition and asks:" when do you want to have our chat, Tinya?" Tinya answers:" after dinner in the lounge all right with you Tasmia?" Tasmia:"that will be fine."

Legion lounge:

Tinya and Tasmia enter, expecting to find the room virtually empty. Instead they find every legionnaire on Earth awaiting them. They turn to leave, but Sensor blocks the door. Sensor:" Going somewhere? I think *not*! We are *all* interested in hearing what you have to say about Lar, Tinya. And so you *will* be having your chat here,now,with the rest of us!"

Tinya huffily:" Jeka, Lar agreed to my telling *Tasmia* about our experiences together in the L.E.G.I.O.N., *not* the entire Legion membership!"

*KARAKOOM* *BAARROOOMMMM* twin thunder claps form the twin legionnaires interrupt Tinya. Garth:" Now that we stopped your and Jeka's arguement in it's tracks , Tinya, hear us out! We're *all* curious as Hell about what Lar was like back then. If you *don't* let us sit in, we'll simpily nag you until you tell us anyway." Ayla chimes in:" Or we'll nag Lar when he gets back! So save us *all* a lot of grief and let us stay,*PLEASE*?

Imra opines:" Besides one of us *may* think of a question you will realize later you wanted to know, but didn't ask Tasmia!"

Tasmia to Tinya: I don't think Lar would mind letting them listen and participate *nearly* as much as he'd mind being greeted by the rest of the Legion wanting him to answer a lot of questions." Jo chimes in: I think Tasmia is right ! Besides unlike Lar, you *don't* have to er well wade through a thousand years of memories to remeber your L.E.G.I.O.N. days together!"

Tinya raises her hands in surrender: all right, Jo, you're right of course!" The rest of the legion relax waiting for them to take seats.

Tinya:" all right Tasmia, let's get this show on the road! First question?" Tasmia: Well what was Lar *like* back then Tinya? Compared to now?"

"Well, Tinya muses aloud, as a fifteen year old he was *much* more optimistic, and Mistress so cocky! Gods he was soo confident about some things, yet soo insecure about others!" Tasmia:" can you be more specific? What was he confident about? Insecure about?"

Tinya:' He *knew* he was the one fo the *best* mechanics Daxam ever produced, same goes for bio-technician, astro-engineer, Hell engineering, period! Any technology he didn't *already* know, he could master faster than just about anyone I ever meet in my life! And I've *never* meet *anyone* before or since with a stronger sense of morals, what's right and wrong, and who holds to it more!

"Most people, under the right circumstances, will bend or break their personal codes of conduct, if it suits them. But *not* Lar, never has and never will! Now his insecurities are still the same: people, relationships. If anything, watching *everyone* he knew and loved grow old and die, while *he* remained exactly the same made it even worse! He was *never* comfortable in a social situation, he much preferred working with his hands, building or fixing something that was broken. Vril Dox was *no* help! He did his *best* to undercut Lar's confidence, and his relationships with others , every chance he got! Mistress, sometimes i wanted to strangle Dox for the way he treated Lar! But Lar *is* basically the same person, physically a little older, a *lot* wiser, and until recently a *LOT* less happy!" Tasmia: "why do you say until recently?"

Tinya:" Well until the Blight showed up, he was happier than I'd seen him since the twentieth century! It's *you* Tasmia, you make him happier than I've ever seen him! At least you *did* before the Blight, and I hope you and he will come through this stronger than ever!" Tasmia crying softly:" Thank you Tinya."

CeeCee :" Well I have a question, just how *did* he get the name Valor?' Tinya laughes: " Simpily, he didn't understand English very well! But the whole story *is* worth telling, especially for those of you who were *blighted* ! Lar was flying past Earth's moon, when he saw a strange structure. Which since Earth had *NO* Lunar settlements, shouldn't have *been* there. Lar decided to invertigate. Inside was Eclipso, who had virtually unlimited power within his fortress or in the dark, sunlight however could destroy him. He claimed to be an ancient God of evil and the night. He used his power to possess Lar, and then several of the super-powered heroes of the twentieth century.

An Earth man, Dr. Bruce Gordon lead the none possessed to Eclipsos palace on the darkside of the moon. During the battle, Eclipso forced Lar to fight Superman. Though Lar is the stronger of the two, Superman won, though Lar *was* badly hurt in the fight. As we were leaving the palace, Lar saw that Dr. Gordan had stayed behind to set a solar flare bomb to kill Eclipso, but Eclipso was about to kill *him*. In spite of his injuries, Lar flew back to save Dr. Gordan. In Hawkmans ship, flying back to Earth, Superman asked Lar how *he* had spotted Gordan's peril, when Superman hadn't. Lar said he was just lucky. Superman told him not to sell himself short. That it had been a *real act* of *Valor*! That Lar was badly injured while under Eclipsos control, but he'd *still* gone back to save Dr. Gordon!

Lar told Phase months later that he had *heard* Eclipso in his mind threatening Dr. Gordon. That he knew if he went back in the palace Eclipso *might* repossess him, but he *had* to save Dr. Gordan! She told him that Superman was right, he *had* acted as a hero in the truest sense of the word!"

Tasmia crying:" Ooh Ancestors, what he went through! It sounds even *worse* than being blighted! He *still* felt Eclipso in his mind *after* he'd been freed! At least *I* didn't go through that!

Tinya consoling Tasmia:" Yes, Tasmia , he's *truly* a hero and a great man! Yet *he* doesn't *see* that! He sees himself as an average person, no better than *anyone* else! He *never* *wanted* to be a hero, *all* he ever wanted to do was explore the universe! He *certainly* never wanted to be the living legend he became, and *absolutely* NEVER wanted to be a veritable GOD!"

Tasmia dryly:" By my ancestorsI can't believe he endured *all* he's had to endure, and he *never* waivers from doing what needs to be done! NO MATTER WHAT THE COST TO HIM!" Tinya:" yes and yet if you said that to him, he'd say you were wrong. He doesn't *see* himself that way."

Tasmia:"ooh I'm going to make him see himself that way, if it's the last thing I ever do! And I'm going to make him as happy as he was in the twentieth century, hell I'll make him *happpier*! I *swear* it! Just as soon as he comes home to me!"

Dyrk puzzled:"Tasmia makes Lar happy? What do you mean by that Tinya?" Jo exasperated:" Bloody Nass, Dyrk what are you blind? Lar and Tasmia have been dating for over six months!" Luornu:"Tasmia and Lar are *dating*? How serious *are* you two Tasmia?" "*Very* Luornu. I love him very much, and before he left, Lar told me he loves me!"

Luornu stutters:"ooh th th that's w wonderful! I I I hhhope you'll bbbe very hhhappy together!" Luronu suddenly splits, Triad orange runs from the room, Triad purple and neautral follw. Tasmia:" ooh my I never realized... Jenni interrupts snidely:" So what else is new? You're the *most* self-absorbed person I know Tasmia! How Lar can love *you* instead of oooh... Jenni runs out of the room.

Jeka puzzled:" hmm mammalian behavior is *still* very confusing to me. *WHY* are Luornu and Jenni *so* upset at this news? *I'm* very happy for you and Lar Tasmia. I think you will be good for each other!' Imra:" I agree with you Jeka. Tasmia yoou are strong where Lar *isn't* and *Lar's* strong where you aren't! Your personalities compliment each other *very* well!

Jeka:" I *still* don't understand *why* Luornu and Jenni are so upset!" Ayla:" Jeka, they *both* are infatuated with Lar! Each wishes *she* were in Tasmia's place in Lar's life and heart!" Jeka:" oooh dear those poor girls! But from what I know of Lar, I don't understand *how* they could *imagine* they had a chance with Lar. Especially Luornu, Lar would *never* get involved with a devout Valorist! At least I don't *think* he would, would he?"

Querl:" No he most certainly would *not* Jeka. Your observation *is quite* correct. He definately would *not* involve himself with a Valorist! The entire *concept* of Valorisim is anathema to him! I am *not* an expert on emotional responses. But it is *quite* clear to me that Lar would not be able to connect emotionally with a Valorist. He *hates* the *concept* of Valorisim! Also he'd *never* be sure the females interest was in *him* Lar Gand!" Imra:" Quite right Querl. He could *never* love a Valorist, He'd *never* be sure if she loved *him* or the legend!"

Ayla:" maybe so, but Jenni *didn't* have to be so snide to Tasmia! They have known Lar longer than Tasmia ! So if they were interested in him *that* way they had *plenty* of time to do something about it! Obviously, Lar *never* thought of either of them as a potential love interest! At least I don't think Lar showed *that* kind of interest in either of them?" Jo:" No, Ayla, Tasmia's the *only* one Lar's *ever*shown *that* kind of interest in! At least since I meet him I haven't noticed him showing an interest in anyone else. Any of the rest of you seen Lar acting interested in anyone?"

All the legionnaires present shake their heads no. Jeka:" but why is Jenni angry at Tasmia? Even *I* know enough about mammalian mating behavior to know that the only one Jenni *or* Luornu *should* be angry with is herself, for not trying to fix Lar's interest, they *both* knew him *before* Tasmia did!!

Chameleon:" Humans almost *never* have a rational reaction whenever their emotions are involved Jeka. I'm sure Jenni will apologize to you, Tasmia, once she's calmed down! Jo:" She *better* get over her snit *before* Lar gets back! Lar'll be even *more* upset than Jenni is if she's still treating Tasmia like that! Hey Tinya has Las *always* had that temper of his?"

Tinya:" Yes, pretty much so, then as now, some things sprocked him off faster than others! And *nothing* sprocks him off faster than someone bullying others! He and Lobo had *more* than one brawl because of that! But I don't think Lar particularly *likes* the fact that he *has* a temper at all. He always feels ashamed of losing his temper,even when he's provoked into it!"

Garth:" It's hard to imagine *anyone* being crazy or stupid enough to provoke Lar!" Tinya chuckles:" Well *you* never met *Lobo* , Garth. Just be glad you didn't! The man was a sprocking homicidal maniac!" Garth:'guess so Tinya, if the stories told about Lobo are even half true, he must have been an *unholy* terror!" Tinya shudders:" the stories don't come *close* to the reality of Lobo. If you multiply the horror of the stories by a factor of one thousend, *then* you'd be closer to the truth!"

Karate Kid:" Tinya, do you know if Lar knows any of theDaxamite martial arts? When I tried to learn about Daxam's fighting styles I was told the arts had died out on Daxam in the mid twenty fifth century by Earth's calander. Lar's from the twentieth century correct? Then perhaps he knows something about them."

Tinya:" You'll have to ask Lar, Val. I've seen Lar brawling and he *does* know how to fight. But I don't know if it's formal training in a specific martial art discipline or just rough and tumble street fighting." Val nods:" Very well I'll ask him when he returns!"

Tasmia:" What if anything do you know about Lar's family Tinya?" Tinya:" He didn't talk about his family much Tasmia. I know his father died *before* Lar left Daxam, and his mother died shortly before he was put in the Stasis Zone! And he had a brother,but I don't know *any* of their names. And I don't know if he had more siblings he never mentioned, or if he or the brother was the elder!" Tasmia:" Well I'll just ask Lar when he gets back." Tinya nods:" Yes that would be best. So anymore questions, anyone?"

Monstress:" OOH yes I'd *love* to hear about Lar's twentieth century girlfriend, did he have one?"

Tinya chuckles:" He was a normal fifteen year old, Candi, and before you ask *no* I don't know the name or names of any specific girl.!" Candi whiddles:" come on Tinya, not even *one* name?" Tinya wryly:" wwell I heard a rumor that he was involved with Queen Komand'r of Tamaran, shortly before he was sent to the stasis zone, but I *don't* know if it was true or not!

Candi:" Well then it *has* been a long time then poor boy! But at least he has you now Tasmia!"

Tasmia:" Yes He does!!"
