Lincoln and Kennedy

Nothing could stun a nation more than the appalling assassinations of two of its greatest leaders. Yet the parallels between President Abraham Lincoln and President John F. Kennedy stupefy the nation further. Sit back and relax, the list is long and a Fascinating Mystery:

L incoln was elected president in 1860. One hundred years later in 1960 Kennedy was elected.

B oth were strong advocates for equal rights.

Both were assassinated on a Friday while accompanied by their wives.

Both wives lost a son, while living in the White House.

Both were killed by a bullet that was from behind and entered the head.

Lincoln was killed in Ford's Theater. Kennedy was shot while riding in a Lincoln manufactured by the Ford Motor Company.

Both presidents were supervened by vice-presidents named Johnson.

Both Johnsons were southern Democrats and ex-senators.

Andrew Johnson was born in 1808. Lyndon Johnson was born one hundred years later in 1908.

The first name of Lincoln's private secretary was John, the last name of Kennedy's private secretary was Lincoln.

Some say John Wilkes Booth was born in 1839. That would put Lee Harvey Oswalds birthdate exactly one hundred years later in 1939.

Both assassins were Southerners with extremist views.

Neither assassin made it to trial alive.

Booth shot Lincoln in a theater and fled to a barn. Oswald shot Kennedy from a warehouse and fled to a theater.

The names Lincoln and Kennedy each have seven letters.

Andrew Johnson and Lyndon Johnson each have 13 letters.

John Wilkes Booth and Lee Harvey Oswald each has 15 letters.

Lincoln's first public endorsement for president(letter to Cincinnati Gazette, November 6, 1858) also endorses a John Kennedy for vice president.

These cases parallel almost too much just to be a Strange Coincidence.
