Diana L. Heald
I live on the outskirts of Syracuse, NY. I will be 52 the end of August.
I live with my two sons (14 and 13), a dog (Great Pyrenees), two cats (calico
and all black), and assorted fish and turtle. I enjoy living in Syracuse,
but hate snow. I grew up in southern California. Snow is what you go and
play in after all the roads are plowed and then go home.
My oldest son is into reading and the younger is into sports.
I have been reading science fiction since before I was ten. My favorite
authors are Andre Norton (I've been reading her as long as I can remember),
Anne McCaffrey (I love dragons - I want to ride one even though I'm deathly
afraid of heights - I also loved Pegasus before I knew about dragons),
Ursula LeGuin (Left Hand of Darkness got me hooked on her), Robert Aspirin
(love his M.Y.T.H. books), Isaac Asimov (I can't imagine reading all of
his books), Robert Heinlein (I like his action books rather than the philosophical
ones). Well the list can go on and on.
When I was ten, I beat up a boy when he said there were no such things
as spacemen. I made him take it back. I then had to apologize when Mom
told me he was right. That was worse than Santa Claus, the tooth fairy
and the Easter bunny all rolled up into one.
I work as an independent consultant in data processing. I'm currently working
at Syracuse University converting one of their systems from mainframe to
the infamous client/server. My e-mail address is dlheald@ais.syr.edu.
I have others at home, but I don't check them very often.
