Brendan and his identical twin brother Darian were born in 2350 on Alpha Centauri to Jana and Mark Blake. When the twins were only four months old, their parents divorced. Brendan went with his father, who had accepted assignment as Federation ambassador aboard the USS Thomas Paine while Darian went with his mother.

The brothers spent much of their lives apart, until age sixteen when both boys moved to earth to live with their grandparents. Two years were spent catching up before they enrolled in Starfleet Academy together. Both graduated from the Academy, but only Darian chose to serve in Starfleet, rising through the ranks as a competent engineer. Brendan instead decided to follow in his father's footsteps as a diplomat.

As a personal hobby Brendan collects art of ancient civilizations, or, to be more precise, holographic representations of the artifacts. Brendan has always been an anthropological enthusiast, an inherited trait he and Darian both came into rightfully, and he had learned over the years the best way to understand a species was to understand their art.

Like his brother, he is outgoing and fun to be around. Unlike his brother, he makes friends easily and usually receives a warm reception wherever he goes. He is Terran, and stands 1.8 meters tall, with brown hair and dark brown eyes.
