Hans Matthew Ellis was born in 2342 in Switzerland, Earth to Tomas and Marta Larson, both of whom were killed shortly after his birth in a transporter accident. He was adopted by Darla Ellis and entered Starfleet Academy at the age of 17.

After graduation he married Traci Lynn, a young woman he met while there and had three children, Troy and Andrew, twins born in 2364 and Katherine, born 2366.

Hans enjoys music, both playing and listening and sports. He is proficient in playing several instruments, (piano, guitar, saxophone, harmonica, and drums). He is very friendly with people and enjoys socializing.

Hans has a very bad fear of transporters.

His first assignment after the academy was to the USS Royale for two years, then the USS Baldwin where he spent three more years and his most recent posting prior to coming to the USS Alliance was to the USS Endeavour. Before that he was stationed on the Science Station, Carman where he served for seven years.

Hans is 1.93 meters tall and is bald.
