Born into the Royal House of Forrester, monarchical rulers of the planet Palatius (a non-aligned Federation world) Marcus Anthony Forrester was destined to one day follow in his father's footsteps by becoming Praetor. He was an only child surrounded by all the amenities and trappings his royal stature provided. Growing up he wanted for nothing, a situation which caused him much grief and controversy. He felt his family's wealth and ostentation was shameful in the face of the poverty covering much of his planet. At age fourteen he renounced his regal heritage by refusing an arranged marriage, choosing instead to live among the poor and suffering on Palatius, leading them in governmental reforms. Soon the protesters and reformists had formed a Rebellion against the royal family, dividing Palatius bitterly and plunging the planet into a bloody civil war. By age fifteen he had been elected leader of the new Rebellion, but grew to disapprove of the violence and bloodshed employed by his followers and refused.

It had been discovered early in his life that Forrester was extremely bright, with an aptitude for mathematics and the sciences. During the civil conflict he attended Deltarian University, earning a degree in quantum physics. His remaining year was spent at the University studying under martial law. At age sixteen he graduated, choosing to leave the planet for a more meaningful existence.

He spent the next two years living on earth studying human culture and history. While there he met a beautiful young woman named Verissa Alonder. The two fell in love quickly, honoring and cherishing each other and sharing many mutual interests, including a great fondness for exploration. After two years of happiness together, tragedy struck when the Praetor of Palatius, Forrester's father, had Verissa kidnapped in an attempt to lure him back to his homeworld. Before Forrester could reach her, agents of the Rebellion broke the civil war stalemate by storming the royal palace, killing both of Forrester's parents, and mistakenly Verissa Alonder.

After months of grief and torment, Forrester decided the only way to put the tragedy behind him was to apply his talents toward a useful purpose. At age eighteen he petitioned and was accepted for entrance into Starfleet Academy. He excelled as a young cadet, earning high praise from both instructors and classmates. He was valedictorian of the graduating class of 2359.

Forrester quickly rose through the ranks as an engineering officer, making lieutenant by age twenty-four. As an officer aboard the Fearless, he was present at a First Contact situation gone awry. The away team came under attack, and Forrester shielded the captain with his own body, taking the shot instead. His act delayed the attack long enough for the team to be transported to safety, but his right arm could not be saved. He now wears an undetectable, bio-enhanced prosthetic. For this personal sacrifice in the line of duty he was commended with the Stagrad Star. He has since been honored with several Starfleet citations for bravery.

At age 28, Forrester was promoted to captain, and in so doing earned the distinction of being the youngest officer in Starfleet history to ever have been granted that rank. His first commission was the Oberth Class research vessel, USS Brahe. The command lasted for two years and was spent mapping and studying various stellar phenomena.

Forrester was among the handful of survivors in the Borg Massacre at Wold 359. He spent the years following the attack at Earth Station McKinley assisting in the development of Starfleet's newest type of exploration cruiser, the Intrepid Class.

On May 7, 2370, Forrester served as captain when the USS Intrepid was officially placed into service. He served as its commander for nearly eight years, until Intrepid was lost in the Losaurus Sector. Details of this incident remain classified. It is known only that Forrester was forced to sacrifice the ship in order to save its crew and the inhabitants of Losaurus Prime. Thanks to the valiant efforts of Captain Forrester, all hands, and the entire population of Losaurus Prime were saved. This act of heroism was recognized when he was bestowed with the Federation Council Medal of Bravery. The inhabitants of Losaurus Prime also honored his bold deed by installing him as an honorary member of the Ruling Council.

After destruction of the Intrepid, Forrester spent the next seven months at Starbase 210 serving as Acting Chief of Operations, while he awaited his next command, the newly commissioned USS Endeavour.

Marcus Forrester's dedication to duty and truth have been the hallmarks of his illustrious career. His presence and command style have even become legendary in Starfleet circles. The captain is known for his fairness and patience. His quiet manner and judicial use of the spoken word, coupled with his impressive height and build, lend to the impression that he is an introverted, private man. But deep down Forrester has a natural charisma and leadership ability that ingratiates him to most who take the time to truly know him.
