Family history

Second of two children, born to John and Patricia MacLaughlin.

John MacLaughlin, Ph.D.. was department head of the History Department at Stanford University (Palo Alto, Ca.) at the time of his last child's birth. He later became Professor of Terrain History at the University of Betazed. He has published many works and his comprehensive history of space flight and exploration has become the standard text at Starfleet Academy.

Patricia Anne Callahan is the youngest daughter of a trader. Patricia received her Medical degree from the University of Southern California. She is in private practice and specializes in Pediatrics.

Their children also include: Peter Allen (b.2331), Captain of the USS Lovell and married to Lt. Kathleen O'Sullivan (Kate MacLaughlin)

Personal History: Cam MacLaughlin ( she prefers a to go by her nick name rather then Patricia to distinguish herself from her mother) spent her fist ten years of life growing up in the sleepy town of Pacific Grove. The family owned a reproduction Queen Anne style home that overlooked Monterey Bay. The house was furnished in authentic antique reproductions.

At the age of ten, the family traveled to Alpha Centauri where they stayed for three years while John researched Zephram Cochrane and the development of warp engines and field theory. Cam spent many a happy hour in the archives and libraries working with her father. At thirteen the family returned home to California where John continued his research, traveling all over the planet studying document to complete his research. Cam travelled with him when she could helping him accumulate data and compiling the information. When the text was completed he accepted a position on Betazed, as a full professor.

The family moved to Betazed when Cam was fifteen. Cam was accepted to University of Betazed's School of Linguistics, at age seventeen. Disenchanted with the school she quit and transferred to Stanford University, Department of Anthropology & Archeology. She graduated fifth in her class in 2363. She accepted a post as a lecturer while she perused her post graduate work at Stanford. She received her doctorate in Archaeology two years later writing her thesis on cultural history and mythology of the Navajo nation and its links and similarities to other Federation cultures. She became a teacher at Starfleet Academy during her student tenure and accepted a full professorship upon receiving her Doctorate. In 2365 she received her commission and became a Starfleet officer.

In 2368 she requested and received a transfer to the research station on Delta Omicron. Here she participated in several studies including an extensive work in the study involving the traditions and techniques of the Vulcan healers.

In 2371 she received a deep space assignment to the USS Geneva as staff anthropologist in charge of research and documentation.

>From 2374 to 2377 she was assigned to the USS Enterprise-E where she served as Chief Archeologist.

>From 2377 to present she has served as Chief Science Officer on the USS Endeavour

Personal Interests: Cam enjoys horseback riding and is an accomplished equestrienne riding in several seats. She has shown, a hobby she picked up as a child and enjoys the competition. She prefers riding Western Reining horses and jumpers.

Most of her free time is spent collecting obscure things. She has amassed a collection of rare and unusual objects. She has a musical library of Twentieth Century Rock and Seventeenth Century Baroque. She also has a library of old books consisting of Science Fiction and Techno-thrillers from the Twentieth Century. She has a rare printing of the original Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy (Naval Press).

Cam is a warm, excitable person. On occasion she can behave in a temperamental manner, getting cranky and angry. She also can be intimidated by some situations. She also tends to talk a lot and is very free in offering advice and her opinion. She is single owning to the fact that most men see a short walking book. She reads a lot. She enjoys social activities and plays cards and team sports. She is very athletic and prides herself on being tough. She also tends to get very involved in her studies.

She has had little luck or success with romance. She tends to be insecure in relationships after a bad experience.
