Jonah and Jena Skye were born on 2358 to Sean and Elizabeth "Buzy" Skye, a minute and a half apart, on board their grandfather's transport ship orbiting Mars. Yet, they were each other's better half. They had to be in order to stay alive. Their families' careers didn't help matter much either.
Her father's father, Cmdr. Ridge Skye was an old wardog who flew an ancient rickety transport ship called the Prairie Dog that should have been scrapped, along with its rogue crew, long ago.
An old Klingon that looked like something the cat dragged in, named Gushy which I rightly appointed him because every time we would play on his tummy it would always make these gushy sounds after he ate and drank lots of ale. But his real name was G'Ath an old dear friend of my grandfather's back in the war. He also had a companion, as my mother so politely called her, Cocoa was an ex-Orion slave girl G'Ath took for himself. She didn't trust her with a ten foot pole.
At the beginning I wasn't exactly sure what my family did for a living. My older brother Keith always told me our father transported uranium to the nearest Starbases and Outposts and to shut up about it and that if I talked or asked questions he would run me in.
Later on, I new better. We traded with the lowest kind of scoundrel, Ferengi and Cardassians during the Occupation. I was fourteen then and I knew I wanted a better life than this. Jonah knew it too. He had a dream and a plan that when we came of age, we would run away together and join Starfleet and go to the Academy.
He loved tinkering with mechanical things, and he knew compts. He knew he would someday become an Engineer and be the best officer he could be. And he probably figured I could be some kind of pilot or navigator. he knew I was already a great pilot. I could fly before I could walk. I navigated us out of nastier scrapes too countless to mention. My grandfather came in handy for some things, even if he didn't know it. He thought that it would be to our advantage if we had an inconspicuous pilot if we needed to be pulled out of sticky situations in a moments notice. I agreed with him on some things that not all women should be stuck in he kitchen and he was right.
I always liked to follow my brother around when he worked, and I learned a little bit about compts and about people, and it worked in our favor. Jonah also figured I could become something called a Communications's Officer, because I had a way of talking us out of trouble and I knew several languages which also came easy for me ever since I could remember.
By the time we were 16, Jonah and I had saved enough money from the share we would get from our father and Jonah took out the application for the Academy we had gotten from Admiral Caine on Starbase 111. We had gotten to know him while we did our business. He said he would even give us a recommendation if we came back the next day because he knew how hard we had worked for it.
Our older brother Keith had it in for us since day one when he found out about it. He ran off to tell grandfather that we were planning on leaving the family and take our share with us and that we should be punished for it.
My mother never stood up for anything in her whole life, but when it came to her children that was the last straw. She told her husband and to whoever would listen that if we wanted to go he should let us go and make a better life than this wayward one. She turned to me and said to hold onto her gold, heart shaped locket that had been in her family for generations and said that every time I look inside it would always help me make the right decision. Then she handed me her jewelry box with a secret key and said it would always bring us luck. I couldn't understand why she was giving me her most precious things, but I took them with her blessings.
Keith still has it in for us to this day. He promised that he would never let us live this down. I figured he probably just didn't like being left behind.
As the years at the Academy passed, Jonah graduated 2nd in his class. he was even promoted to Lt.(jg) on his very first mission on the USS Phoenix as a Warp Drive technician.
As for myself I passed with flying colors although I graduated a few months later due to complications in my studies. My first mission is on board the USS Endeavour as Chief of Communications. I look forward to a full fledged career in Starfleet as an officer and getting to know my fellow crewmates.
Jena has significant skills in Starship Navigation, shuttlecraft tech, and piloting, small equipment systems, compt operations and general security procedures. Her major was communications. She knows Klingon.
Jena likes to spend time on the holodeck, likes Klingon Opera and 20th century Earth rock-n-roll and literature. She also likes flying, playing Tai Pei, racquet ball and likes vanilla fudge ice cream. She is good in hand to hand combat in Karate and is always open to new things. She plays the harmonica and piano and has a strong intuition about people.
Jena lived most of her life moving from place to place and has always had to learn how to make friends fast so it's a little hard for her to make the first move. She looks up to her captain and commander and would like to be one some day.
Jena is a human female, slender build with brown eyes and shoulder length curly brown hair worn in either a french twist, standard or in a ponytail.
