Greg Kempton, married and raising three children, is a capable and respected physician. His service to Starfleet has been exemplary and his devotion to his family is unwavering. Despite all of that, Greg has trouble finding friends among his colleagues. Fussy and given to complaints, Greg can find something wrong with everything and can point out room for improvement all around him. Oddly enough, he's never willing to lend a hand in those improvements, but he makes sure everyone else is aware that it needs to be done.

After serving on the Fionbi, Greg took ten years leave and worked in a private practice on his home planet: Earth. His return to Starfleet placed both him and his family on the Holbrook for six months. Privately considering going back to Earth, Greg hopes to provide a good life for his family on DS13.

His wife Teresa and children Troy, Derek, and Emily, spend much time together. A close and well-ordered family, they are one of the rare success stories of combining Starfleet and domestic life (thanks largely to Greg's 10 year leave).

Easily flustered and constantly disillusioned, Greg hides his insecurity from his family and takes out his stress on his co-workers. Unpopular among his peers, Greg takes comfort in his family and hopes to one day find Starfleet more fulfilling.
