Astrology is the study of the planets and their influence on the destinies and behavior of human beings. Depending on where and when we were born we can find out what planets have what kind of influence on us. Some planets have more influence on you than others depending on where they show up in your chart.

Astrology is a tool for helping you to understand yourself better. It can also help you to find the right vocation for yourself. It cannot, however, tell you your future and should not be used as a minute to minute or day to day guide for your life. Remember, we all have free will and our futures are not written in stone!

But astrology can be used to help you recognize certain aspects of yourself. It can also warn you of certain obstacles you may have to face in your lifetime. It can give you clues about a past life you have had in order to help you overcome the problems brought over into this lifetime.

Edgar Cayce, the great American psychic states that the reason the planets have any influence at all with us is because during our existence between physical lives (while we are in a spirit body, in a spiritual world), we have visited these planets, learned lessons while there and thereby picked up the vibrations given off by these planets. I know this is a new concept to try and understand, but it is worth thinking about!

Astrology has been around for centures and there are many books written on the subject. Astrology is far more complicated than you might think, with so many things to consider such as planets, houses, aspects, ascendants and descendants just to name a few!

So, for this newsletter I will try and give you a couple of positive and negative traits found in each sign. First of all it helps to know the 12 signs of the Zodiak (zodiak comes from a greek word meaning zoo which coorespond with most of the 12 signs). They are:

There are ten planets to deal with when considering an astrological chart. They are: Sun, Moon (both considered planets in astrology), Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Earth is not considered a planet because it is our home base.

The next thing to consider are the Houses. The Houses are 12 categories of your life. Your astrology chart is basically a representation of yourself, your personality and so includes all these areas of your life.

Any House which has one or more planets in it is emphasized and strengthened. Each planet has a specific meaning also. They are:

Some of the traits for each Sun Sign are as follows:

ARIES-energetic, optimistic/selfish

TAURUS-patient, affectionate/ stubborn, resistant to change

GEMINI-versatile, adaptable to change/superficial, brooding

CANCER-imaginative, sympathic/tempermental, overly sensitive

LEO-creative, generous/self-centered, overbearing

VIRGO-practical, conscientious/worrier, limited vision

LIBRA-artistic, easy-going/stubborn, under-achiever

SCORPIO-passionate, imaginative/obstinate, unyielding

SAGITTARIUS- generous, seeker of wisdom/lack staying power, blunt

CAPRICORN-cunning, disciplined/spiteful, unforgiving

AQUARIUS-independent, inventive/aloof, inflexible

PISCES-intuitive, romantic/impractical, over-indulgent

There are some signs which are better in partnerships than others. These are as follows:

ARIES with GEMINI, LEO or CAPRICORN is a good match.

ARIES with CANCER, VIRGO & SCORPIO will have a hard time of it.

TAURUS with CANCER, VIRGO, PISCES is a good match.

TAURUS with TAURUS, ARIES and SCORPIO is difficult.

GEMINI works well with ARIES, LEO and LIBRA.

ARIES with VIRGO, CANCER and GEMINI would be a hard time.

CANCER goes well with TAURUS, VIRGO and PISCES, but not so well with ARIES, CANCER and LIBRA.

LEO is good with ARIES, SAGITTARIUS and LEO.

LEO is not so good with VIRGO, TAURUS and AQUARIUS.

VIRGO goes well with TAURUS, SCORPIO and CAPRICORN.

VIRGO is not so good with ARIES, GEMINI or SAGITTARIUS.

LIBRA works well with LEO, SAGITTARIUS & AQUARIUS. Not so good with ARIES, VIRGO or CANCER.

SCORPIO is good with CANCER, CAPRICORN & PISCES. Not so good with TAURUS, SAGITTARIUS or SCORPIO.

SAGITTARIUS is good with ARIES, LEO & LIBRA. Not so good with TAURUS, CANCER or PISCES.

CAPRICORN is good with TAURUS, AQUARIUS & PISCES. Not so good with ARIES, GEMINI or LEO.

AQUARIUS is good with ARIES, SAGITTARIUS & AQUARIUS. Not so good with CANCER, TAURUS or LEO.

PISCES is good with CANCER, SCORPIO & CAPRICORN. Not so good with LEO, VIRGO or GEMINI.

Of course there are always exceptions to the rules. When one sign is not entirely suited to the other, it doesn’t mean that their relationship will not last, it just means that they will need to work harder at it than with the other compatible signs. So, don’t be discouraged if you find that your mate’s sign and yours aren’t compatible. It just means you will need to work harder at keeping it exciting and enjoyable!
