Adult - Mission Logs - Socrates Retrieval

The Team:
Ensign Andrea Vasquez Aux. Team Human Female Crewman Mission leader
Geoff Roberts Aux. Team Human Male Crewman
Anna Childress U. Aux. Team Human Female Crewman
Ensign Taylor Spratt - Security
Planet Ramary II mild climate large extensive prairies very suitable
for farming.

Personal Log Ensign Andrea Vasquez.
I have an Away mission!  Yes!  No!  Wait!  I mean I am in charge
of an Away mission. Me! In command of my own mission.  I just came
from the mission briefing with Taggert and the Captain.  There was
a shuttle accident and I have to go down with a team to salvage it.
A team.  My team and my mission!  I even get the shuttle Foresight
for the mission.  Wait until my sister hears this!  Oh my!  I hope
I am ready for this.  My own mission.  Got to go and get ready.
We leave in 2 hours.

Mission Log Ensign Andrea Vasquez recording.
Day one.  Away Mission is going well.  Anna Childress and Geoff
Roberts are surveying the surrounding area.  Taylor Spratt is
setting up perimeter sensors.  We have set up camp on the shore of
the pond where the transport Socrates is resting on the bottom.
Tricorder readings indicate it is 150 meters off shore in 7 meters
of water.

The Alliance has already left orbit to make an emergency rendezvous
with a freighter having life support problems.  The Alliance should
return in five days for pickup.

After lunch I will use the diving gear we brought to swim to the
transport and determine its condition.  Neither Childress nor
Roberts have scuba dived before.  Spratt has dove before but we
only have one set of diving gear.  If all goes well the Socrates
will be at camp in about an hour.

This planet, Ramary II is a wonderful planet to have a mission on.
The weather is mild and warm, the air breathable. Even the water
in the pond is comfortable.  According to our sensor scans prior
to landing, the nearest farm or town is 30 kilometers.  We should
not be disturbed by the locals.  And our mission orders are to
avoid contact with the locals.

Personal log Ensign Andrea Vasquez.
Roberts and Childress took nearly three hours to make their
survey. They were late for lunch. While they ate they kept looking
at each other whenever they thought I was not looking. The two of
them have the real hots for each other so bad. As long as it does
not interfere with the mission, I don't really care what they do
in their off time and out of sight.

Spratt!  Why him? I can't stand the guy. He takes karate in my
class aboard ship. He has asked me out before and I said no then.
Ever since we landed he has hit on me half a dozen times. I’d like
to tie him to a tree and leave him there for the duration. May be
after dinner I’ll practice some of my forms. He might get the idea
I don't want to be bothered.

I am in the process of checking the diving gear and getting ready
to make the first dive to the Socrates.

Mission Log Ensign Andrea Vasquez recording.
Day One, Entry Two.  The transport is now resting on the shore at
the camp.  Took a lot longer than expected to raise the transport.
The pilot had left nearly every access panel opened.  Most systems
are shorted out.  Had to bring down the portable generator to power
the anti-gravs and the flight controls.  The anti-gravs worked but
not much more than that.  The transport was sluggish at the controls.
It may have been due to the shuttle being full of water.

Make a note to have a more portable generator next time.  That K5
was tough to move in the water, even using an anti-grav sled.  And
by myself. Next time I will have to pick someone else who can dive
and bring extra diving gear.

The Socrates is a mess. I have Childress and Roberts opening up
and pulling every primary and secondary component of the power and
propulsion systems on the transport. I have some emergency tarps
spread out and have every thing laid out and drying in the sun.
Spratt has a background in computer systems, I have him stripping
the computer interface down. He is doing a good job.

I am doing the life support and sensors.  Then I am going to use
the portable generator to raise the internal temp in the transport
to dry out the rest of the systems.

Personal Log Ensign Andrea Vasquez.
Spratt has proved to be useful. He is even pleasant to talk to.
We spent an hour after dinner going through some Karate basics and
the forms we both know. As a Blue belt he is doing quite well.
Roberts and Childress retired early.  Spratt and I stayed outside
and talked for awhile giving the two love birds some privacy.

Mission Log Ensign Andrea Vasquez reporting.
Day Two, The transport is cooling down. I raised the internal
temp of the shuttle to 150 ‘F. At first check the Socrates is dry.
Still too hot to work inside.

The computer came up on a bench test. However, both the computer
system memory and all navigation and sensor logs are blank. Even
the backups are blank. This I do not understand. They are different
systems.  I have Spratt downloading from the Foresight’s memory.
The other systems are coming along.

Mission Log Ensign Andrea Vasquez reporting.
Day Two, entry two. The transport is now cool enough to work in.
Secondary power systems are back in and as are most of the primary
systems. The computer system memory is restored and functioning.
Will break for dinner.

Personal Log Ensign Andrea Vasquez.
Worked out again with Taylor. He has a nice crescent kick. The
work on the Transport is going well. If nothing else fails we
should be ready by the time the Alliance returns.

Mission Log Ensign Andrea Vasquez reporting.
Day Three. The Socrates is on internal power. Both primary and
secondary systems came up first try. Life support is next. I will
start installing life support after dinner. Spratt has offered to
assist.

Mission Log Ensign Andrea Vasquez reporting.
Day Four, entry one. We all worked till almost 1 am last night
and got both the life support installed and running as are the
sensors.  We are making great progress.

Personal log Ensign Andrea Vasquez.
Damn!  Damn!  Damn.  I woke up with Spratt this morning. I woke
up naked and curled up next to him.  I don't believe I did it
with him.

We stayed in the Socrates last night after the others went off
to bed in the Forsight.  We had started a level 1 diagnostics on
the transport’s systems.

Damn!  And I kissed him first!  How stupid.  At least my shots
are up to date.  Well, Taylor has turned out to be nicer than I
had thought.  But still.

Mission Log Ensign Andrea Vasquez reporting.
Day Four, entry two. The power and propulsion systems
Diagnostics ran fine.

Personal Log - Ensign Andrea Vasquez
No!  I don't want to talk about it.  No!

Mission Log Ensign Andrea Vasquez reporting.
Day Five Spratt took the Socrates up for a test flight.  It
worked.  Even up to 5 kilometers.  Life support functioned.
Shields function.  Sensors are slightly off.

One Problem, Main communication system is still out.
Communicators only.

Personal log Ensign Andrea Vasquez.
I sweated the entire time the Socrates was up hoping that
nothing would fail.  Or was it because Taylor was flight
testing the transport.  I don't know.  I am going to have
to think about this.

Mission Log Ensign Andrea Vasquez reporting.
Day Five - Entry Two.  Communication problem was due to some
corroded power relays.  I missed them in my first power check.
Come to think of it they did not show up on the diagnostics
either.   Have replicated replacements and installed them.

Made contact with the Alliance with the Socrates comm
equipment.  They will be delayed one day and will arrive
tomorrow.  I have adjusted the sensors the best I can here.
The Socrates is ready.

Now to clean up after ourselves.  We have been ordered to
await planet side for the Alliance.   My high marks for the
entire team for their efforts during the mission.

Mission Log - Ensign Andrea Vasquez reporting.
Day Five - Entry Three.  The diagnostics did not pick up
the power relays because I used the downloaded files from
the Foresight.  Different power systems.  I have informed
the team and we are manually re-checking all systems which
are different.

Mission Log - Ensign Andrea Vasquez reporting.
Day Five - Entry Four.  All systems checked.  A few minor
problems found.  All repaired or fixed as best as we can
here.  All repairs are listed in the transport's maintenance log.

Personal Log - Ensign Andrea Vasquez.

We have a day of rest.  The Alliance will be delayed in
arriving.  Taylor and I are going for a picnic lunch up on
a nearby hill.

Damn!  I still have to think about this.  Do I really want
to get involved with him.   Like the other night was not
getting involved.  At least we can relax for a day.

I am going to have to ask Taggert if I look at improving the
design of the sensor housing.  It was bear getting out.   Even
more so trying to realign it and get it reinstalled.  There is
a formal dance being held next week aboard ship.   I may just
let Taylor take me.   I wonder how well he can dance?
