D'ye ken John's Teddy

(to the tune of 'D'ye ken John Peel')

D'ye ken your teddy, from March 'til May,
You left him in your room and you though he'd be O.K.,
But now he has gone, he is far, far away,
And you'll ne'er see him more in the morning.

chorus:
There were teddies gone from Poplar,
There were teddies gone from Halls,
When some unsuspecting people
  Got some unexpected calls,
And where some of you had several we obliged and took them all,
And they'll all be auctioned off in the morning.

D'ye ken a mad Mech. Eng'er, whose name is crazy John,
He thought he'd get some teddies back, and raided 301,
But when he returned from Halls he found that two of his had gone,
'Cos we don't put up with heroes, in the morning.

chorus:

D'ye ken the crazy titles when those toys are called by name,
Heathers doll is known as Floppsie, of Northern Ireland fame,
But the crazies of all is a bear that's owned by Jane,
'Cos she called it 'Aber-woof-woof!', in the morning.

chorus:

Now the listing of these teddies is a time consuming job,
From a snake whose name is Sidney, to Andy's ugly hog,
But the one that takes the biscuit is a brown and yellow dog,
With a squeak of its ears in the morning.

chorus:

D'ye ken a mad Mech. Eng'er, whose name is crazy John,
He thought he'd get some teddies back, and raided 301,
But when he returned from Halls he found that two of his had gone,
Cos we don 't put up with heroes, in the morning.

chorus:

Now my song is shortly ended but I hope that you have learned,
That these teddies are an asset, and as such should not be spurned,
So you'd better treat them nicely or you'll find we have returned,
And borrowed them once more in the morning.
