Here is a list of the authors of works of philosophy and theology contained in the Great Books of the Western World, published by Encyclopedia Britannica. Note that the Great Book editors felt that the Bible should be included, but assumed each reader would want to use his own personal Bible as part of the set.
The set of great books also includes an introductory volume, called The Great Conversation, and two volumes, called the Syntopicon, that provide references to The Great Ideas.
