This book is a guide to the teachings and practices of the Catholic Church. It was formerly entitled Expressions of the Catholic Faith. Unlike your better Catholics, it took me two years to read this book. Regulars to this web site will know the reason why; my obsession with the Great Books of the Western World has been taking a lot of my time this past two years. However, that does not mean that this is not an interesting book. It is extremely well researched and will benefit anyone wanting to know anything about the Catholic Church. Even as a life-long Catholic, I read tons of stuff that I never really knew about but just accepted.

I cannot begin to summarize all that this book contains. Some of my favorite chapters were:

This really doesn’t even give you a good bite of the whole pie contained in this book. Get a copy for yourself. Mine was the hardcover printed by Ballantine Books, New York, N.Y., copyright 1994. It has the Nihil Obstat and an Imprimatur as well, both words also explained in the book. I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
