I was born on July 9th, 1967 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada...probably one of the weirdest places in the world to be born. My parents quickly spirited me away and I grew up about 250 kilometres away from that mighty city, in the Cypress hills (ranch country with a capital R). I spent my youth catching frogs and telling myself stories. Before I was seventeen I had tried to become a rock guitarist (I can still play ŌSmoke on the WaterĶ), a biologist (going from B strings to bee stings), and a movie director (anyone want to watch really poor movies made by a thirteen year old? Aw...cÕmon.). I finally gave up on all of those careers and became a writer. For the last fourteen years IÕve been writing continuously...IÕve pumped out seven novels, about a hundred short stories, and written three different comic books. I started my own publishing company and put out an audiocassette of my short stories. My young adult novel Draugr was released in the fall of 1997 by Orca Books and and the second one in the series The Haunting ofDrang Island should be in your local store now. Plus I have a comic book Hallowed Knight that is sold worldwide. Hey...IÕve arrived. I think. Oh yeah and I got married in the summer of 1997. I highly recommend the experience (it gives you something to write about!)
