To Her (#1)

The first question I always get when I show this set of poems (Which is constantly growing, shifting, and changing), is: Who is this written to? You know what? When you find out, feel free to let me know. The best thing I can say is that this is to every woman I have ever known and loved, every woman who has caught my eye, made my heart skip a beat, or walked past me without even a batting of the eye. I have not lived a love-rich life...but I have known love...and it is that which I write about.

To Her (#1)

You are a vision unparalleled by any other,
A sight to behold,
A picture of beauty in its purest form.
I saw you in the midst of my pain,
And the pain was gone.
You are a bastion for me,
A place of rest,
A light in the midst of darkness,
A calm in the raging waters of life.
You are to me as water is to the parched soil,
As food to the starving,
I cannot be without you.

I see you in my dreams,
You are an angel come to save me.
Your lovely hair blows in the breeze.
Your eyes catch the sunlight,
And it cannot compare to their light.
The sun shines brighter,
As it sees your lovely smile.
Then you disappear,
For you are not mine to have.

I reach out to you,
Do you see me?
I call out your name,
Do you hear me?
Do you know me?
Am I real to you?

Who am I?
I don't know,
For without you I am nothing.
I am devoid of meaning,
For I am imperfect without you.
Yet still I cannot see you,
Because you cannot see me,
If only you knew me...
If only you knew...
