To Her (#5)

Here's a new twist to the whole series. Reflection has revealed to me that I too often am the cause of my own pain, waiting in the shadow's too long, unable to accept the thought that someone might love me. I'm a blind fool, and I know it.

To Her (#5)

Again I look into those eyes,
The ones which both haunt me
And set my heart aflame.
Have you accepted me, or is it a dream?
Too often I dream, and let opportunity slip by.
Too often I remain alone,
When I should seek a companion.
You desire to be that companion,
I'm a fool, to wish solitude and solace.
I must desire one and not both.
I must desire you, your hand, your love,
Yet my own insistance denies me.
As always,
As always,
As never.
For I am "Never."
Not "if"
Not "when."
"Never."
