MYSTERY BOOKS

Janet Evanowich

Stephanie Plum series. When a laid-off retailer finds the unemployment shuffle kicking her into her parent's house, she finds herself in a new career working for her cousins--as a bounty hunter. This mystery series is swift, hillarious, and addictive:

[One for the Money]-starts it all [Two for the Dough] [Three to Get Deadly] [Four To Score] [High Five]-paperback due out June 2000 [High Five]-hardcover available now [Hot Six]-hardcover out June 20, 2000 Stephanie is hunting a mentor. Oh No! 5 star mystery!!!!!

Dennis Lehane

Dennis Lehane won a Shamus Award for [A Drink Before the War], his first book about working-class Boston detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro. His second in the series, [Darkness Take my hand], got the kind of high octane reviews that careers are made of. Now Lehane not only survives the dreaded third-book curse, he beats it to death with a stick. [Sacred] is a dark and dangerous updating of Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep, as dying billionaire Trevor Stone hires Kenzie and Gennaro to find his daughter, Desiree. Patrick's mentor, a wonderfully devious detective named Jay Becker, has already disappeared in St. Petersburg, Florida, while working the case, so the two head there to pick up a trail. Desiree, of course, is nothing like the sweet and simple beauty described by her father, and even Chandler would have been amazed by the plot twists that Lehane manages to keep coming. [Gone, Baby, Gone] [Sacred] [A Drink Before the War] [Darkness Take my hand] [Prayers for Rain]

Kathleen Taylor

Tory Bauer mysteries. Tory Bauer is a forty-somthing, widowed waitress who inadvertently and against her will stumbles on to mysteries. These stories are funny and easy-reads, and blend Tory's diverse experiences from past to present:
[Funeral Food][Mourning Shift][The Hotel South Dakota]

Nora Roberts writing as JD ROBB is brilliant!

Meet Lt Eve Dallas who works homicide in New York, 2058. She's a no-frills gal with a rapier wit and a cunnying habit of solving murders despite their high profile. The series is fantastic. Tight murder mysteries, a touch of romance, humorous sarcastic dialogues, and characters that are too easy to abstain from loving.

Below is correct order of novels according to publishing dates. It starts with [Naked In Death], [Glory In Death], [Immortal in Death], [Rapture In Death], [Ceremony In Death], [Vengeance In Death], [Holiday In Death],
[Conspiracy In Death], [Loyalty In Death], [Witness In Death- out March 2000] JUDGEMENT IN DEATH--out Sept 2000
I'm halfway into the series and enjoying the laughs and midnight reading. If you know of an author similar to Nora Roberts let me know? wilma3@fnol.net I fear being through the series before the month is out.

3 Complete Novels:Dean Koontz an excellent read Dean Koontz delivers and awesome trilogy of stories. It hits hard with THE HOUSE OF THUNDER. It begins very creepy, grabbing you from the first page. Next, and weakest (but still great) is SHADOWFIRES. It is a little slow to begin with, but quickly becomes fast paced and exciting. The last, MIDNIGHT, is probably the most creepy. Most of the resident of Moonlight Cove, California are changing . . . losing emotions, becoming animals. But what is causing it . . . and how will the few normal humans make it out when they become violent?

Audition for Murder:Susan Sussman/Saradon Avidon Feb, 1999 AUDITION FOR MURDER is a genuine surprise that will enchant anyone who gives the tale a chance. The story line is entertaining, intelligent, and fun to read as the insider,s world of theater is vividly portrayed. Morgan is a warm, delightful actress cum detective. However, it is her ensemble cast that makes this a necessary read for sub-genre fans. Novelist Susan Sussman and actress Sarajane Avidon leave no doubt that their corroboration will lead to a critically acclaimed, long running hit.

THE BLACK TOWERP.D. James

Dead March by Ann McMillan SEPT 1998 "Ann McMillan's Dead March is the first in what promises to be a series of Civil War-era mysteries as appealing as Anne Perry's historical procedurals. Narcissa Power, a young Virginia widow consigned to a dismal existence in the country home of her sister-in-law, receives an urgent summons from family friends of her beloved brother, Charley. Shortly after she rushes to his side, he dies of a disease that should have caused only a minor infection. The mystery of his death is compounded when Narcissa finds a fragment of a half-burned letter"

Trouble in Paradise by Robert B. Parker SEPT 1998 "Jimmy Macklin is fresh from three years in prison, and he has no intention of returning. He also has no intention of living the straight life. In prison, he heard of a small, extremely wealthy island community across the bay from Paradise, Massachusetts--just the place for the kind of elaborately planned score Jimmy loves."

12 Drummers Drumming : A Novel of Suspense Diana Deverell AUGUST 1998 A debut mystery writer, Diana Deverell's 12 DRUMMERS DRUMMING is a dynamite action thriller. It kept me up well past my bedtime. I could not put it down. Had to find out how Casey Collins, its FSO heroine, thwarts a Libyan terrorist plot.

Adventures of a Psychic by Sylvia Browne, SEPT 1998...I saw Syliva Browne on MONTEL WILLIAMS. She is real-deal clairvoyant who has added in missing-persons and other investigations. A heart of hope.

Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy

Bag of Bones Stephen King Released Sept 1998 "A reader from Denver, Colorado , August 29, 1998 Excellent! At his best, his writing has never been better.. My favorite book of King's was The Talisman, and of course The Shining. Couldn't put this one down. Have read 16 books this summer from Amazon.com and this was the best. Want another book that will scare the hell out of you, then read Brad Steiger's new book, Alien Rapture. It is a scifi-horror /conspiracy that has characters as in depth as King's new novel. I purchased both books for gifts. I recommend it very much"
