Analyzing Returned Tests:
If you get a chance to look over the test after the grading process,
- (If you are not allowed to keep it) make notes of the questions you missed, and what the right answers were.
- look up the questions you missed to find out why the right answer was right.
- write out the right answer (this is to create a link between your memory and what you see on the page).
- If you do not receive your test back, (if possible) visit your instructor's office or classroom to see your
answer sheet.
- Look for the origin of each question--textbook, class notes, lab projects, readings, handouts, etc..
- Identify the reason you missed each question.
- Did you read it correctly?
- Did you prepare for it?
- Was the test designed to be more difficult than you expected?
- Did you run out of time?
- Check the level of detail and skill of the test.
- Were the questions about precise details and facts or main ideas and principles?
- Were the questions straight from the text or did the test designer expect you to do a lot of higher-order thinking?
- Did you experience anxiety or blocking during the test?
Whatever happens, I hereby wish and send you good luck with your tests, quizzes and exams. Just keep saying to yourself, "I am a good, intelligent person. I WILL SUCCEED!"
