This is the newly-finished page by the Oriental Institute in Chicago. These are the expedition photographs they took in the 1930's, in what was Persia in the ancient world. Lovely work!

May 2, 1999: ORB: The Online Reference Book for Medieval Studies
Kalamazoo time again!!! This site is a mega-site, full of information about mediaeval studies; literature, teaching resources, encyclopedias, and much more!
May 9, 1999: Byzantium 1200
Staying in the mediaeval vein! This site features some really interesting reconstructions of Constantinople (formerly Byzantium, now Istanbul) as it looked in 1200 CE.
May 16, 1999: The Theban Mapping Project
This is the website maintained by Prof. Kent Weeks, who rediscovered the Tomb of the Sons of Ramesses II a couple of years ago. His project for mapping the Valley of the Kings in Egypt is a very important contribution for preserving this significant archaeological site.
May 23, 1999: Internet Movie Database
Here is another resource I use frequently. This is a massive database of information about movies, actors and actresses, directors, composers, and more. (Sometimes it's a bit slow...) Don't forget to check out Auntie Mame!
May 30, 1999: W. H. Auden Society
This is the official society devoted to the poet whose works I have been reading lately. (Those of you who know John Romer's works will recall that Romer mentions Auden frequently.) One of the best English poets of the twentieth century!
June 6, 1999: The William Blake Archive
More on the artist and poet William Blake, who was the subject of a Link of the Week last year. This site features some of his artwork, as well as narrative commentary. Very wild!
June 13, 1999: Rogers' Christmas House
This place is a must-see in Brooksville, Florida. A magical place, filled with Christmas ornaments and gifts of all kinds from around the world. Five whole houses' worth!
June 20, 1999: The Chagall Windows
This page has a description and illustrations of these windows created for the Haddasah Hospital's synagogue by Marc Chagall, the greatest artist in stained glass of the 20th century.

I saw TP and the Heartbreakers on July 23 at Deer Creek. What a great show! Fabulous music as well. This is the center for biographic, tour, press, etc. information on the band.
August 8, 1999: Kelley Blue Book
New car in da house! (A '99 Honda Accord EX, if you're interested.) This is a neat site where you can get information about new and used car values, a Lemon Check (!), and reviews.
August 15, 1999: All-Music Guide
This site is a nifty place! You can find all kinds of information on bands, solo musicians, etc. here--fairly unbiased, too!
August 22, 1999: Pompeii: A Lost City Revealed
This site, created by Discovery Online, features some really nice articles about this Roman city/time capsule and a few nice illustrations in Quicktime and Real Video formats.
August 29, 1999: Museum Tours - Egypt
This site has a neat, self-guided virtual tour of the Valley of the Kings. Some of the illustrations are a bit off, but the floor plans are excellent indeed!

October 10, 1999: Institute of Nautical Archaeology
This institute studies archaeological remains of maritime activities, both ancient and more recent. Contains really neat photos of things like the wrecks at Cape Gelidonya and Uluburun--major sites which tell us a lot about Bronze Age trade in the Mediterranean.
