Of mice and men
(the Poem)Nova, SDG
Of mice and men I know now it's been said
Many times in the recent past I Too
Would have fully agreed! - There are too few.
Too few mice. Too few really now dead.
And yet from gullible men we've been fed
We've been pampered rotten; spoiled clear through
Yes, there are too few dead mice, it is true
But think now, where this has finally all led?
Of mice we have future food in reserve.
Of men we have silliness - simple mind.
We've always got our mice, which will preserve.
What's good for all humankind we best find
Would be Us, which is more than they deserve
A meek meow, a soft purr, a rub most kind.
For we really know every now and then
And you too would agree with what I say
That yes, they are just precisely that way
And you will see of All such mice and men
Just what I speak, in a time which comes, when...
You too will wonder, "Why me, why today?"
It's always the same with those men, but Hey!
If we had it all to do once again
Wouldn't you too find it simpler agree'd
That men are just darn simple and stupid?
Why then explain to them what could have been.
The demise of all those mice - Why the need?
When men resort so and act our cupid
For friends we have mice, and they? - other men.
Of mice and men
