Wee birds
(and small places)

For all my hopes and all my cares
Give me wee birds and small places
Wee birds, one in hand; two if pairs
Small places for mice in spaces
Gathered up and placed with me here
I should then do my very best
Given wee birds I hold so dear
Romp and play they I be hard pressed
And of mice, we know only this
To take and play away the night
requires no great skill, only bliss
Give me wee birds, this my delight
Give them do I pray, please now sir
I’ll keep them and love them I will
Placed with me they’ll be warm as fur
Warbling praise to you on high shrill
And calling your name beaks exclaim
Odious joy to you this day
Come now, those are ours...give acclaim
To wee birds there......what do you say?
