These are my own creations, but most of the credits must go to my wife, Maribel, for inspiring me to write the way I do. Thank you, and please make me continue :)
STAR
I long for a star
A diamond on velvet;
Brilliantly cold, distant;
Beauty sprung from light
Shed aeons ago
Aimlessly travelling -
It didn't find me
I found it
But we are parted by distance
Parted by time;
I cannot shorten either
Nor can my star
I must keep on longing
But it is oh, so far
SHALL I COMPARE THEE TO A WINTER'S NIGHT ?
Shall I compare thee to a winter's night?
Thou art much clearer, crisper, yet less cold:
Before thine image enterèd my sight,
The finest view I ever did behold
Was wintry stars, a full moon rising high;
Thou outshine'st all the stellar beauties now.
Deny thine virtues is to give a lie:
If one said "Thou should'st leave her!" I'd say "How?"
Thine closeness, fine as silk, like jewels dear
Means Heaven to me; absence of't is Hell:
Lest all my thoughts designeth be to near
The gap to thee, destruction 'pon me spell;
And then thou smileth and turn to dawn the night,
And winter unto spring, with lovely might.
