A Memorial
To the
Dennis Dewey Family

.........Not long after I began to dabble in genealogy, I came across a family who had seven members to perish on one day. This is the Dennis Dewey family. All I could do was to conjecture what this tragedy might have been. Last Saturday my good friend and cousin Jay Suter stopped by to see me and he shed light on the mystery. On his travels east, he had found the seven graves and had stopped at the library to see if he could find information. If my mind hasn't slipped a cog this is at lest close to what he found.
........It seems that Dennis Dewey, Patty Lynn Frederickson Dewey, and their five young sons were traveling home for Christmas in their volkswagon. That trip home was brought to a sudden and tragic end when their car left the roadway and overturned into the Platte(?) River.
..........A number of times, I had wondered what happen to this family and I experience a sense of loss even though I never knew these cousins who were a daughter and grandchildren, I believe of Simon Peter Lark. It is hard to imagine loosing a daughter, son in law and five grandchildren all in one terrible swoop.
........Therefore I would like to make this a memorial to their memory.
