West Virginia Streams That Carry Our Family Names

.......Since one of my main interests is West Virginia History and geography with a specialty in West Virginia Streams, I thought that I would list the streams that carry the surnames of my extended family. I have added at least one for a family of a friend. By looking at place names, you might speculate about the families that reside or have resided in a certain area. In a few cases, places have been named for the explorer who discovered them. ........In my listings of about 9000 streams that flow through and around West Virginia, I use three reference points for these streams: the stream that each stream runs into, the elevation at the mouth of the stream, and the USGS Quadrant identification. For some Greenbrier Ruver streams, I also have elevation at the source. The Quadrant ID has a Letter and a number. The Letters begin at AA in the Northern Panhandle and end with Z in the extream southern tip of the State. The numbers begin a 2 in Wayne County and go about 44 in Jefferson County. Although my location here in Greenbrier County is U19 and is considered to be in the eastern part of the state, I am further west that many places condsidered to be in the North Central Portion of the state. To really understand the area in which your ancestor settled, you need to have a grasp on the geographical shape of the state. Maybe you can find a stream with your families name on it.
