This log structure is being assembled from logs from the old Rich Hollow School (Hern School), which stood near the base of Muddy Creek Mountain, and from other nearby log structures. This log building is on the spot where the Holiday-Lewis School once stood. I have trouble understanding why anyone would tear down an old school building. If I had one one my property, I would try to restore it. Some folks have no

sense of history.

Construction on the building that housed the Williamsburg High School began about 1916, nad two rooms were ready by 1917. When work was completed, the downstairs rooms, except for one, were used for grades One through Eight. The upstairs rooms, plus the one downstairs room, were used by the high school. The first graduating class was to be in 1921, but the State Department of Education gave the school a second class rating which meant that the students of that class would have to go elsewhere to graduate. The class of 1922 would be the first graduatine class. (This information made possible ny Earle Bransford.)
