Some symbols and terms used in the Church
Throughout all centuries man has learnt to use symbols of mysticism to aid him in his spiritual development. Weather modern man is aware of it or not, this is always was and will be the language of the true church. Moses used symbols and it is written in the scriptures that "with a parable spake he unto them".
Sword - Judgement
Shepherd’s rod - the sceptre of authority
Candlestick - the seven churches
Trees - man
The burning bush -Holy Ghost
Bells - the gospel
Oil - Holy Spirit
Wine - doctrine
Mourning - a Godly sorrow,
fasting - abstinence from food
Cords - strength
Baptism - complete immersion in water
Eternal light - God’s presence
Secret Chamber - place for deep meditation
Incense - prayer
Shepherd - advanced member (shepherdess)
Seal - a closed mystery
God - deity
Silver - redemption
Brass - Judgement
Blue - heaven, holiness, health, protection
Purple - royalty
Scarlet - sacrifice
Fine white linen -righteousness, purity
Goat’s and ram’s hair- atonement
Wood - humanity
Yellow - spirituality
Mauve or Orchid - power
Brown - happiness, resurrection
Green - life
Black - strength, labour, remembrance
Scale of balance -justice
Mercy Seat - a pew for a person to repent
Candidates - person awaiting Baptism or Sanctification.
