Dr. Thomas Bradford Savage
24th Alabama Regiment Company E

Dr. Savage was born in Livingston Alabama in 1824, and died April 24th 1885 at his home in Jackson, Alabama. In a report to the 24th Alabama Commemorative Association in Mobile on May 15th, 1885 it was written about him:
" Since our report ot the 27th of April we have been informed of the death of Dr. T. B. Savage which occurred at Jackson, Alabama on the 24th of April in the 61st year of his age. He came to Mobile prior to the organization of the 24th Alabama Regiment, with the Dickinson Guards from Clarke County and as there surgeon. When the Regiment was organized this became Company E and Dr. Savage was appointed assistant surgeon of the Regiment.
He served in that capacity during the tour of duty at Camp Goodwin, Fort Morgan and Camp Bragg, and accompanied the command to Corinth Mississippi. Soon thereafter he was detailed by Medical Director J. C. Noff for the position of Post Surgeon at Mobile, and had no further service with the 24th Alabama Regiment. So far as we know to us his services after the transfer was creditable to himself and his profession."
" After the cessation of hostilities he returned to his old home in Clarke County and to his practice. Subsequently he make his home in Arkansas, as in Alabama, he was called to represent the country, twice in the State Legislature, where he discharged the duties which these honors place upon him with fidelity and without reproach."

Thanks to Jim Savage for the information on his Great Grandfather.
