a ight USA; Pittsburgh, PA;   pronounced /ah ight/; shortened form of 'all right'.

Ain't down with    USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  Use when referring to a situation you don't particularly like.   "I ain't down with this idea!"

ammo  ammunition.

Anglophone  Canada;  A Canadian whose first language is English; also refers to all Canadians who do not speak French.

Ankle biter   an infant.

backfire  A plan or scheme that doesn't work out the way you expected.

bail  depart or leave in a hurry.

Bean Counter  An Accountant.

bender  A heavy drinking session, usually lasting more than one day.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt!  refers to an experience you have already lived through.

Bet  USA; Pittsburgh, PA;   Reactionary response to an event that is totally unexpected   but greatly appreciated.  "Class is cancelled today?  Bet!"

big-head  Someone who thinks he/she is better than anyone else.

big shot  Someone who is in the upper echelons of management; an important or famous person.

bimbo  an unintelligent woman.

bitchin'  cool.

biz  business.

blonde  an unintelligent woman.

blonde moment  Do something really stupid. "Don't mind me, I'm having a blonde moment."

Bo'  USA; Pittsburgh, PA;   Pronounced /boah/; a male friend--usually, but not always, of the same peer group.

bonkers  crazy; something that really bothers you.  It's driving me bonkers!

Booger  USA; Pittsburgh, PA;   a really disgustingly ugly and hideous female.

boomerang  A scheme or plan that backfires on you.

bootlicker  Someone who fawns over the boss or management in hopes of earning a promotion.

boot scootin'  dancing or leaving as in "I gotta scoot my boots outta here now".

booty  refers to a person's buttocks.

break  USA Pittsburgh, PA;   Use when referring to departure from a place. "I have to leave now; it's time to break."

brekkie  breakfast.

brownnoser  Someone who goes out of his way to do extra work for the boss and create a good impression in management's eyes, usually despised by fellow employees as a bootlicker.

bugging  USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  acting silly or foolish;   asking someone to do something silly or foolish.

bum  Someone who lives on the street, begging for money for meals, alcohol etc; someone who always borrows things from friends and neighbors.

bush  Canada  First Nations (native) Reservation.

buzz  gossip:  Have you heard the latest buzz? Or the euphoria experienced by the use of illegal drugs.

can  1)  jail, or 2)  toilet. He was in the can for drunk driving. or He was sitting on the can when the phone rang.

cancer stick  a cigarette.

canned  to be fired from your job.

cap USA; Pittsburgh, PA; To punch someone in the face.

cask  Wine which comes in a box, contained inside a bladder and has a pouring spout.

chill, chill out  Calm down, relax.

chillin'  to be with your friends.

chumpie USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  Something that causes happiness, joy, or excitement.  "That was a good movie; it was the chumpie."

cinch, It's a  It's a sure thing or It's easily accomplished.

cold-blooded  Describes actions done; or people who do things
without heart.  "He left her standing in the pouring rain. Talk about cold-blooded!"

cool, neat  Something or someone that is very fashionable.

cop out  to give up trying to do something or give in to another's request.

Couch Potato:  Someone who watches television for long periods of time.

crack on  USA; Pittsburgh, PA; When a male attempts to get to know a female of his own peer group with the intentions of ultimately having a relationship with her because of her personality, not material possessions.  "Joe's had his eye on her for two weeks.  I think he's trying to crack on her."

crash  to go to sleep at someone else's house.

crib  One's own dwelling place (house, apartment, etc.)

crook  a thief or a criminal.

cube  Another word for square.

Cuppa  Canada ; a cup of tea.

Cushie  to have it easy. He has a cushie job.

Cuz  USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  Synonym for Holmes.

da bomb  An ultimate experience:  When it comes to fast rides, the Wildcat Coaster is da bomb.

dead  Refers to a specific event that was not worthwhile attending.  Jon's party was dead.

dead beat  someone who is good for nothing, a bum.

decent  USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  adjective for chumpie.   "That movie last night was decent."

def  USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  synonym for decent used with stronger emphasis.

dewzie, doozie  something really big or spectacular. The thunderstorm was a real dewzie.

dipstick  someone, usually a male, who does stupid things.

dis  (1) to put down someone in public to the extent that it makes that person feel bad.
      (2) to deliberately break an appointment or date without
consenting  the second party.
      (3) to lie to someone.
"I waited for this guy at the restaurant for 45 minutes and he didn't show up; he dissed me!"

Docs  Doctor Martin shoes, especially popular with the young people of these countries.

dogging USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  1) synonym for housing.  2) obtaining maximum sexual pleasure from a member of the opposite sex.
"You should have seen that guy last night.  He was all over her.  He was dogging her!"

doll  a pretty or sexy woman.

doozie  something spectacular or huge.That thunderstorm was a real doozie.

douche bag  A very negative description of a person.

Down East  Canada;  refers to:an expression used by western Canadians when referring to the Eastern provinces.

Down South  U.S.A., Alaska;  refers to: Canada and the Mainland of the US., also a term used by Northern Americans when referring to the Southern States.

duck:  USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  a snob; a conceited, stuck-up female

dude   refers to a friend or acquaintance, usually male. Used instead of his name.

dud  something that doesn't work properly.

duds  clothing, usually referring to dress clothing.

Duh!  Of Course! or That's right! (always used sarcastically).

dying  USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  laughing hysterically

dyke  a female homosexual.

eighth wonder  Something that/someone who is very cool.

fair one USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  A planned fight that is preceded by a verbal argument.   "That's enough talk, man!  We can have a fair one in the parking lot!"

fag  a male homosexual.

fag  a cigarette.

fess up  confess, own up.

five finger discount  the act of shoplifting.

flat  Canada;   A case of 24 cans or bottles of beer.

for real  truth; talking in a serious manner.

fox  a very sexy and/or beautiful woman.

Francophone  Canada;  A Canadian whose first language is French.

freak  USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  an extremely beautiful, good-looking female--usually, but not always, a member of your own peer group.

Freebie  something that costs nothing.

fresh   USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  new; original; usually used when referring to clothing.

frigid  someone who keep themselves apart from others, or a woman who refuses (or cannot respond to) sexual invitations.

frog  Dreogatory term referring to anyone whose mother tongue is french.

front  USA; Pittsburgh, PA;  talking nonsense; all talk, no action.
"He doesn't know what he's talking about;  he's fronting!"

funky  Something that is very fashionable, trendy or cool.
